Im looking to go to York or the Lakes for a night in a couple of weeks!

Was hoping to stay in a nice hotel but its a nightmare! Most Hotels seem to saying its a minimum stay of 2 nights! this takes the pish imo! I was looking at the Royal York Hotel and its around £100 a night which is expensive but its fine as its a one off night away but the greedy hotel is saying I have to stay 2 nights, as are pretty much all the other hotels I have looked at!

Looks like ill end up in a b&b :(

Have you phoned and asked? Most places are happy for the business when it's quiet... unless you're talking about the weekends close to Valentines.

Well thats the problem its Saturday 5th Feb, its before Valentines day but I guess some people are going early

i had the very same problem for valentines day for the Mrs

solution was book a travel lodge there's 2 in York city centre £77 Per Night

That is the most unromantic place I can possibly think of. Are You going to take her to McDonald's as well? :D

£100/ night is cheap for a hotel in New York.

You will struggle big time to find a one night stay place.

who else read the title an thought the op was annoyed at a 1 night stay policy as he only wanted a few hours ;)

This :) Related side note, I went to Aus via Singapore over christmas and they have hotels in Terminal 3 at Changi Airport.

The lady asked me when I went to check-in "How many blocks of 3 hours would I require?". She didnt understand when I asked her do I get to choose the girl! Very odd.

Its mainly down to the fact that they do not want football fans descending upon them just for the night, being drunk and too hung over for breakfast

I think he means York, not New York ;)

Bit far for a day trip :D

:o:o:o:o Bah

WHen I read him choosing between New York and the Lakes, I thought he must have been referring to The Great lakes. I was thinking it seemed like an odd choice at such short notice
