Bit of a Rant about the benefit system

Al Murray has it right with his 'Broken Britain' he reckons we should bring back shame. It's time shame was back in fashion.

Unemployment is good for the economy, it keeps wages low and and profits high for companies. If there was full employment, people could pick and choose their jobs, demand for labour would be high, so wages would rise.

It is a far more profitable system when people are grateful to get any job they can at minimum wage. Employers can pick and choose employees from hundreds of applicants, all desperate to clean toilets so that their family can eat.

I missed it, funnily enough.

Is there anywhere I can watch it to catch up with the fury?

Jeremy better watch he doesn't bite the hand that feeds him so to speak ;)

I can see what you're saying but, less employed people = less money being spent and put back into the economy with increased money coming out through benefits.

Also, the minimum wage issue, correct me if I'm wrong but are some people, in some cases, "better off" claiming rather than work at minimum wage? Which brings about the whole issue that benefits should be reduced/fairer?

Not really sure where to stand on the matter personally as I do not know enough about the system.

A friend of mine went on ESA recently they asked him for a reassessment after 6 month! apparently it's common these days. You still get people on Incapacity benefit that haven't been reassessed in years.

I think to be reassessed often makes perfect sense really!

Maybe im just annoyed becasusevim self emp and can't work due to a minor op therefore I lose money and there's no benefit that can help me while I'm recovering!

sorry i have to disagree with this statement the only benefit here is to companies profits. as you said they can pay minimum wages, ask ppl to work unpaid overtime, pay the same rate for weekends and in some cases for working at night because they know with high unemployment ppl will still bite there hand off for the work (immigrants who haven't learned how to milk the benifts system yet)

as you said with less unemployment means higher wages better working conditions and the life style on benefits isn't as appealing

the situation we have just now as has already been pointed out there are jobs out there where you would receive more money simply from sitting around doing nothing and claiming benefits

i have family that look at the current job's with that view the amount of money they receive is more than i earn and they think i'm crazy for going out and working a 6 day week just to provide for me and mine

they say oh it wouln't pay me to get a job unless i was getting paid at least 40k a year they live in private rented houses with rents of over £500 a month

the landlord uses this rent to buy local council houses of ppl on benifits buy offering them a couple of thousand pounds and sometimes much less then once the property is in his name renting it back to the council at a higher rate

where there is money there follows greed and abuse and this infects our whole goverment system just look at the mps that were jailed for fiddeling the expenses if we can't trust them with our money how can we trust em to run the country ??????????

Oh yeah i forgot that you're a ******* boss type person, glad people like you are few and far between, based on you past posts if i ever were to meet you i'd probably smack you one.

Just been watching the Jeramy kyle show special on benifit briton! its has driven me insane.

I am self employed and cant work at the moment due to a minor operation and can barely walk. let alone lift anything.

there are people on that show that sit at home having sex and kids every day and are getting there house paid for, there bills reduced, there council tax written off as well as any debt reduced! one lady on there was getting £1700 a month and was saying how really that wasnt enough!

all they seem to do now is offer people security courses for nothing and then give them a job in the security industry!

i had to pay for my security course and the license £500 in total. i then worked the odd door after a day of my full time job! now when im working away in security i will do 100 hour weeks 7 days a week. and that can be months at a time! now my work is going to be harder and harder to find because they keep giving out the license i had to work hard and save for to people who really dont give a crap!

why is the benefit system in this country so awful! people are proud to be able to live without having to work at all! i would find it degrading and embarrassing if i was living on benefits! im only 22 but since i left college at 17 i have worked a full time job every week since! and when i was out of work i took anything i could, i was working restaurants, bars anything i could! i cant see how it is that hard for people to find work, understandably i know it easier for me at 22 to get a job in a bar than say at 50 year old.

right rant over, and there really is no point to this thread other than me venting my anger and moaning lol

the biggest problem with the current benefit system is that the ammount of benefits increase with the number of children.

There is no limit to the number of children the state will pay for. If you decide to have 11 kids with 0 income and only benefits, they just up the benefits to pay for the extra kids.

This imo, needs to stop. We need to stop paying benefits out after the 2nd child.

If you want to have a 3rd, 4th, 5th child, go ahead, but do so at your own cost.

"Can't" or "Won't"?

Can't.

There's plenty of people who lack the skills or experience required to find work at a time like this. Providing these people with the opportunity to learn some job-specific skills provides not only that job market with an influx of people with training, but also provides those people who can't afford to take those lessons, or who wouldn't normally have access to them, a chance to enter employment.

Not everyone who claims Jobseekers, or another type of benefit is sitting at home scratching their balls watching their new TVs, there are many people who spend each day worrying about how they'll afford their rent, or feed themselves.

Yes, there are those who do abuse the system, but if they find work as a result of this and stop abusing the system, then what's the problem?

Nobody gives a damn that you had to save up for it, it was within your means to save for it. Some people don't have the means. And yes, some do have the means from abusing the system - but it doesn't matter as long as it puts people into work.

All this "I had to save" business just reeks of jealously and the typical ignorant attitude to benefit claimaints that they're all scumbags.

**** you.

I see your point, but is it right to punish the child by reducing it's quality of life simply because the parents are fools? What measures would be put into place to protect those 3rd, 4th and 5th children? Dumping them into homes or care isn't an option as I'm fairly certain there's a big issue with the amount of children who don't have care and aren't being adopted.

No **** you, the system has been twisted into a monster by greed lazy **** heads that cannot and will not apply themselves. Believe it or not me and a thicko work shy chav have roughly the same brian and capability to learn and do well. Just that the chav thinks the world owes him something for doing nothing at all!!!!

That's what they are hoping you to think so they can abuse and milk the system. Believe me, once they have the 3rd child and they realise they'll get no money for it, you'll see they'll be no forth!! Give in and give the 3rd child money and you can bet your ass they'll be a 4th.

The only reason the benefit family stops at about 10/11 is thats i think the most a human female can produce before the fanny falls off. Otherwise i'm sure you'll see familes of 20+

I have to vent this..

My cousin lives with his girfriend who has mild rheumatoid arthritis, in a council house. She's classed as disabled so get help. Fair enough, she doesn't work.. it may be painful, who knows, but then she's on Facebook flogging her custom made cakes to anyone who will pay. Rage 1.

He used to work but jacked it in because it was more lucrative to become her full time carer but still has a comfy £500 a day job working down the local air field. Rage 2.

They also have 2 kids, with another on the way and moan that they are too hung over or ask me to get them some apps for their new MacBook Pro because they won't pay for Creative Suite 5. Rage 3.

I honestly want to grass them up.

They are not actually given £1700 a month in cash.

You can view the full range of benefits available on the direct.gov.uk website. Put it this way - if you chose not to work you'd be worse off!

Thing is though, they can.

Take this example :

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1309201/95k-year-benefits-family-12-homed-1k-week-house.html

Lets look at the facts.

First off, child benefit

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/childbenefit/payments-entitlements/payments/rates.htm

£20.30 a week for the first, £13.40 a week for every child after that. They've got 10 kids in total, so thats £120.60 for the 9 kids, plus £20.30 for the first.

Total of £140.90 per week, £563 cash per month.

She suffers from curvature of the spine apparently, so that will get her the high rate of mobility, no doubt at least the medium rate for care as well, so thats £97.65 a week, a total of £390.60 a month cash.

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/FinancialSupport/DisabilityLivingAllowance/DG_10011925

Then theres the carers allowance, thats £53.90 a week, cash. So thats £215.60 a month

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/caringforsomeone/moneymatters/dg_10012522

Then theres income support, thats £65.45 a week cash, so thats £261.80 a month

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTa...ditsAndOtherSupport/On_a_low_income/DG_185670

Then theres the Tax Credits. This is paid per child up to a maximum rate, of.. £300 a week. So thats £1200 a month.

Working on the weekly rates for all that lot, and then multiplying by 52 gives us £34,210.80 per year. In cold hard cash.

£2850 a month.

Cash

For not working and having 10 kids.

Castrate both the parents? They should be fully aware that only up to two kids you can get benefit for, after that, its there choice...It's not hard to stop shoving your wanger into a female now is it.

It is so simple to stop benefits being spent on frivolous purchases, stop the cash payments.

Exactly. Why do we give them cash?

Just give them vouchers that can only be spent on basic food, clothese e.t.c.

People who are out of work should NOT be given bucket loads of cash to spend on what they want as they end up buying numerous luxuries that people who have full time jobs can't afford.

Don't have a job? Sure you should get basic shelter, food, water, heating, clothes and a few basic entertainment items ( basic laptop and a very basic tv) but no more.

no alchol, no sky, no 50 inch LED TV, no cig's,no eating out e.t.c

True, but if these were people with more than two braincells to rub together, they would see that "over-reproducing" for the sake of benefits is a totally unethical action and wouldn't do it in the first place. I'm not a hundred percent sure that they would be smart enough to stop doing it.

And I don't know, I have no issues, but a lot of people I've seen have major issues with their wangers and females.

Believe it or not me and a thicko work shy chav have roughly the same brian and capability to learn and do well. Just that the chav thinks the world owes him something for doing nothing at all!!!!

So when work shy chav realises that he's made a massive mistake and wants to go to work, what does he do when he has no work experience and no meaningful skills?

Or how about those who aren't work shy, but simply can't find work? Should they be denied opportunities to find work simply because they can't afford it on their measly JSA? Or because someone else has a job and therefore was able to save up for the training?

That said, Security, which was the example made in the OP, is hardly a skilled job.

How do you pay for training? Or travel?

it is just a vicious circle though.

Said scumbag chavs are seemingly reproducing at a huge rate, thus creating even more scumbag chavs who will no doubt go on benefits as well.

All the while sensible people with jobs and who live within there means arent having any children as they cant afford it or only 2 or 3 at most.

ok give them travelcards and means to get trained.

Just not cash that can be wasted on anything, as it inevitably does.
