The *Official* Eve Online Thread

only lasts 5 mins!

How do you like me now? :P

On a more serious note - why does the worm not have the 10% per level drone damage bonus the rest of the guristas ships have? its completely pointless with rockets and unbonused drones.

I'm not the most experienced player ever... but I have my fair share of null and whs fights albeit mostly fleet rather than solo:

With plenty of use of the gila so far without loss of it. Yes those fits I've posted have been fairly much lol fits but I did say as much. But in all seriousness I do have a fairly decent PVP gila fit that can tank a ton and isn't completely incapable.

You really should have a look at the TXSI killboard before calling my corpies inexperienced tho :D

I'd already done my Eve-Investigating prior to posting that. A 'fairly decent PvP Gila fit' I can accept, but is a far shout from what you were claiming earlier. I'm not saying the Gila is useless, its far from it, but its not the god mode you were claiming earlier - Especially as you can't use T2 heavies. Judging from the ships yo fly as well, I'm going to guess you have neither Caldari or Galente Cruiser V.

Might wanna stop making assumptions :P

And in all seriousness I do have a PVP gila that can tank almost any solo ship in the game, tho its very situational as to whether it could kill a given ship, quite a few could escape.

I was judging from your previous killmails, guessing you've now skilled up for them.

Many, many ships wouldnt have a problem chewing through a Gila. They have strong tanks, without doubt, but not that strong :)

I wouldn't say many many ships, a properly fit machariel or vindicator or maybe a decently pimped bhaalgorn with good pilot skills.

Aye if theres more than 2-3 ships I wouldn't last long, but most people either assume its brick tanked and primary something weaker first or the gila is a bit of a mystery so they primary something known :D

Since I quit wow at the end of last year I've been after something to spend time on, tried EVE once before (trial) and thought it was pretty good but with playing wow just didn't have the time for 2 MMO's.

Been playing 2 days now and have to say I'm enjoying it so far, just progressing though the tutorial missions, completed the first military chain and got a Punisher, now doing the industry chain and got a Tormentor for mining.

I must say I've never played anything that made me feel so small, insignificant and ignorant at the start than this, it's actually quite interesting, it's made obvious that you have SO much to learn.

Quite happy right now just slowly working through the tutorials, made 2 million ISK and not really bought anything yet besides a few skill books I needed for missions, however I was wondering if anyone could explain the very basics of ship fitting, my Punisher currently has 2-3 Dual Light Beam Lasers with Multifrequency S...things, a Civilian Shield Booster, 3 armor modules and and overdrive injector system.

Now that honestly doesn't strike me as being the most efficient way I could outfit my ship, if anyone can just give me an idea of what I should be aiming for that would be great.

I'm planning on probably just spending my time doing missions.

Woooo Amarr :)
A good rule of thumb for you to follow is don't put anything relating to shields on an Amarr ship. Use armour repair modules and resist mods. There are a few exceptions but they're all specialised ships / roles and something you're unlikely to come across for a fair few months in terms of flying them. In a frigate your main way of evading damage will also be keeping moving - an afterburner is a great addition to reduce incoming damage :)

For a punisher:
high: Small Nos, 3 pulse lazers (use multi frequency)
Mid: 1Mn afterburner, cap recharger
Low: small repper, adaptive nanno platingx2, damage control.

Orbit your target at 1k with after burner on, fire guns and use nos, only use your repper if you need to.

Use a similar fitting for a maller when you get to that stage.

Considering resubbing, anyone know whats going on Fountain core atm - all my stuffs in Serpentis Prime iirc - think my old corp was absorbed into PL a while back and have moved on. I see the carebear alliances are still out there.

All the lvl 5 missions are located in low sec space again ;) This makes me very happy. I knocked out around 2m lp in a few hours last night just jumping between 3 systems…… Make hay when the sun shines and before the nerf stick comes out.

pathetic legion is getting their butt handed to them by the NC again :D

We are indeed :D

PL tried attacking us on the way back from a PoS bash last night.. They ended up losing 2 capitals before we even dropped out cap fleet on field.. Shame we didn't drop the cap fleet quicker, it would have been a massacre (titans and moms jumped in just after the second PL Archon went down).

Thanks for the fitting advice guys.

One slight problem is that I don't seem to have the powergrid capacity to have everything online, I'm about 7 short, meaning I can't have the afterburner online unless I take one of my lasers offline.

Now I know you can increase power with a engineering, mine is current at 3, is there anything else I can do?

Also does anyone know of a corp that would accept someone as new as me? I'm enjoying the game however the lack of any sort of social interaction is rather annoying.

There are numerous other ways to help things fit. Skills, such as training 'Weapons Upgrades' and 'Advanced Weapons Upgrades'. Or items, such as Power Diagnostic System's.

Fitting is an art.. Its complicated at first, but ultimately one of the most rewarding parts of Eve imo.

For a bit of fun, we are having a frig tornement in our corp, the rules are

T1 Frig, T1 Fittings, T1 Ammo and no rigs

Im Gallente, so could anyone recommend a fit or should i just not bother as most will be flying rifters?
