Do you have a personal hero?

Seems to me thats there is something wrong in the world when people think that good rolel models include rapists and gangbangers.

I'd agree.
Wasn't Tyson done for rape? Animal too.
Anyway my own personal hero is Judge Dredd, when I grow up (sic) I ant to be in charge of a extremist society like his.

I would say I admire, Bill Gates, Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens. But they are all human so I don't think they can really achieve hero status.

It doesn't literally mean Hero, it's just someone who inspires you to be a better person.

My father or grandfather.

I don't know enough about other people's lives to aspire to be like them.

Spot on FF :)

My dad is my hero. He has endured so much illness in his 67 years that it's hard not to be inspired by him.
He's suffered 5 of the major killer illnesses the 19-20th century could throw at him:
1. Scarlett Fever (1950) - evacuated to quarantine on east coast, all belongings burned
2. TB (early 80s) - 13 different tablets a day for 7 years
3. Chrohns Disease (1995) - part of intestine removed
4. Cancer (duodenum, secondary liver) (1998 - given 9 months to live in Feb 2002 ) - parts of spleen, stomach, pancreas, duodenum removed
5. Pneumonia (2008)
He now has COPD and sadly his light is starting to diminish, but his mental strength is beyond question. He's always done right by his family.

He is my dad.......he is my hero!

My older brother, for taking on a gang of 15 lads singlehandedly and making every one of them run for their lives :) quality childhood moment.

But special mention has to go to Bruce Lee. His dedication, skill, and philosophical side were legendary. RIP bruce.

You dont have to be a celebrity to be a hero. My heros are the unknown people who work hard every day, get up when its -20oC outside to go to £3 an hour job to feed their kids etc. Those people are heroes.

From an admiration stand point, I admire Muhammad Ali and Desmond Tutu greatly but again, not my heroes :)

I admire and respect a lot of people and groups of people but look up to, and idolize them then nope.
Well not unless Jorge, Noble 6 or Masterchief are real?

My grandfather.

Former SAS, great role model but died a sudden death when I was younger, so never got chance to "talk" to him :(

My Younger brother, Which is kinda strange. He grew up a better person than I did. I'm 28 and he's 23. In a lot of ways I actually look up to him. Which is sad, it should be the other way around. I should have been his role model

Lionel Terray - French mountaineer from the heyday of mountain climbing. Notched up a few first ascents and lived life as he wanted it.

Hans-Ulrich Rudel - Stuka pilot in WW2 and a wholly remarkable, heroic man. Having already earned Germanys highest honor for military service, a new, higher honor had to be created so that he could be awarded that!
