Can you use drones? I guess you could stick a MWD + Overdrive on an incursus - hope the rifters use the lows for tank/gyros and stay out at disruptor range letting drones (or drone) and rails (might not track well enough but if they are silly enough to try and burn straight towards you won't be an issue) do the work. That might not work so well against other frigs tho and rifters might kill your drone dropping dps a lot and theres the risk the rifter pilots might be able to get the edge overheating.

Or you could try a tracking disruptor w/ optimal range script and staying at 4-5km... all in all gonna need a lot more experience than I have at frig warfare tho to field gallente against rifters.

PL tried attacking us on the way back from a PoS bash last night.. They ended up losing 2 capitals before we even dropped out cap fleet on field.. Shame we didn't drop the cap fleet quicker, it would have been a massacre (titans and moms jumped in just after the second PL Archon went down).

Not gonna vaporize my fit with a sleipnir - tanked a dps fit, burst tank sleip, granted PVE fit, for over 2 minutes (I was bait) without him getting close to peak recharge:

and my skills are quite a bit higher now.

EDIT: I guess a 4x RF gyro, faction/T2 ammo fit sleipnir with L5 pilots skills might kill me probably need overheating.

I would if there was such a thing as a fair fight in Eve lol... but they'd just get friends to come along.

Be an interesting (if rather protracted) fight actually - he'd come into small nos range which would let me eat away at his cap supply assuming cap boosted active tanking sleipnir and I'd have no trouble then running active hardeners even if he had a neut or 2, he'd probably be able to AB out and escape in the end tho :( the one downside to this gila fit.

EDIT: Think he'd just about kill me before he ran out of cap boosters if fully fit tho and I lack the dps to take him out while he has cap to run tank full out.

Yeah average fit gila won't tank more than 550-600dps tops when neuted. Doubt many are fit like mine. Its not the most useful fit outside of baiting as it can't hold anything sub BS sized for too long. I usually run with fleet booster as well which gives the gila quite an edge due to the extra shield HP and regen.

EDIT: If anyone wants to come fight me in a C5 Pulsar w/ fleet boosts my fit tanks 3K dps with small cap requirements :D

To ne honest, I don't think it's really worth doing 4>5 if they die at level 4 they'll probably die at lvl 5 as well.

But still working on my drone skills.

^^ Only really Warrior IIs I'm missing out on, Bouncer II doesn't require the racial skills.

EDIT: Doesn't take long to get decent level in that so popped it on, Warrior IIs are kinda required for chasing down anything fast :S and I really should have Berserker IIs as well.

Seriously Rroff, get over the Gila. It's not the invincible own mobile you seem to think it is. Truly, I imagine even a well flown and fit Hurricane or HAM Drake could take you down.
 
IIRC HAM drake tops out just under 800dps and that with kinetic damage which the gila has good resists to... so no not really. Not overly familiar with the hurricane but without neuts it won't come close and with neuts it would lose too much dps to push through my tank with the active hardener offline.

No its not invincible but solo it would take a pilot with mostly L5 skills in the relevant areas and a fairly pimped fit to kill it, most likely machariel, vindicator or very pimped sleipnir or 1-2 other faction bs.

EDIT: non-gank fit HAM drake tops out a little over 600dps so even an average fit gila wouldn't have too much trouble (T1 purger, average fit gila with mostly L4/5 pilot skills = ~730 defense against L5 HAM drake + hobgoblin II damage profile (613dps))

Obviously purger fit gila isn't a great idea for larger scale engagements - probably wouldn't even use a gila for that - but it tanks pretty well for small gang work.

Yeah, the vast majority of PvP fit Gila's wont have purgers on, but extenders. For a similiar cost of a Gila, most HAC's would chew through you I'd imagine.

I'm not saying its not a good ship, it is - But its not often used in PvP for a reason.
 
Just bought this, what race should i choose does it matter and will i need to choose a server?

Also is there a OcUK noob corp(assuming thats like a guild) thing i could join?
 
There's only one server (and a different one for the Chinese, but you won't be able to connect).

Which race you choose will only depict what region you start in, and which frigate skill you'll initially have. That's it afaik.

Basically, no, it won't matter.
