Are ATi finally turning a corner?

Dole person card my arse.

Sorry but you pay for speed, and and gives the best speed.
SA on my 5970 is not an issue... plus the cores overclock by 300mhz.

What NVIDIA card can do that??

I want the BEST money can buy.... so I go amd.

Quote "The HD 5970 delivers faster gaming framerates compared to the GeForce GTX 580. However, if you look at the actual usability of those frame the picture is a bit different. The GeForce GTX 580 allows a consistently higher level of the gameplay experience compared to the Radeon HD 5970. We were able to game at higher settings with the GTX 580 than we were with the Radeon HD 5970. The most important factor, beyond framerates, is the visual quality and experience returned by the product. The GeForce GTX 580 allows a more immersive, smoother, and consistent quality of gameplay."

Quote "If we were millionaires and money was no object, there's no doubt we’d be sending our army of robot butlers down to the shops to buy a Toxic. Even though very few of us have a grand to spend on graphics cards, we have to admire the degree of performance and respect the fact that it’d also be pleasant and practical to live with. The Sapphire Radeon HD 5970 4GBToxic is rare, cripplingly expensive, incredibly impressive and utterly desirable. We want one!" http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2010/05/11/sapphire/10

If you understood the Quote, you will see that this applies even more to this card.

Does it sound impressive ? Yes the Toxic does. But so did the Asus Mars...

"The reality is that you need to look at a product like this as a posh car on display, everybody wants it yet nobody can really spend the money on it. "

AMD have had the fastest card out for a long time, although thats a bit of a given when there are no other cards to compare it against. If you want to compare gpu's, by all means open a new thread and go for your life.

All you get with AMD is speed. I expect that though, when the AA is awful and there is nothing else the card can do. As I said, its the Dole queue persons card, cheap as chips, fast enough to do a job but lacking in everything else.

Hi,

Thanks for your support if it weren't for die hards like you I wouldn' t be able to afford to run my 3 lambos.

The reason our products cost is because our chips are large in size and we can't get as many from a silicon waffer as AMD. Hell all our top cards from the 400 line were sold at loss most of the time, AMD really have stuck a large one up our backsides and its bloody hard to compete against smaller faster cheaper to make chips.

I don't know how we are going to beat the HD5970 welve had two cracks at it already and failed and now they are bringing out a faster card! Help!!!

*snigger*

I just love the competition both bring to the table.

never had major issue, a few niggles, but you get that on any software...

I had a HD2600XT- HD4870-XFIRE HD4870 than on to crossfire HD4890s ( at this point ATIs next gen was out and ATI was making drivers aimed at them)

than finally GTX480

I've had 5870, 5870-Xfire, 5770 and now a GTX580. Reason for the switch to NVidia was I was a little underwhelmed by the 6*** series, so went for the best single GPU at the time of purchase. I never had any specific problems with my ATI cards though. :)

To be fair that's pure flamebait but it got a LOL out of me. :D

And on a side note, my GTX460 has started randomly blacking out the screen and switching Aero off for no good reason, with a message that the display driver has restarted.

Problem-less nVidia ownership: still zero.

Dole cheque persons card??. So anyone that owns a GTX 470, GTX 460, HD 6950, 5870, 5850, 6870, 6850, GTX 560, in fact even GTX 480 as that's about the same price as the 6950 are receiving benefits?. These are all GAMING cards, never mind all the cards not as high as what *you deem as a working man's card. I'm trying my hardest to not be angry and flat out call you an idiot.

Only 6970, GTX 570 and GTX 580 would qualify you to have a job and earn money with your idiotic statement.

So if you have a £275 card or higher then you're not on the dole but below £275 and you're unemployed. HAHAHAHAHAAHHAHA please leave the forums and don't come back as you're clearly not right in the head lad.

CUDA, you're making a complete fool of yourself. Grow up.

I can see CUDA is going to fit in well around here, or maybe not considering he seems to be a BS fountain..

Just noticed that skyrocket got banned, wondered why i hadn't seen that username in a while. :o

I think it was an old member that had been previously banned and came on to stir trouble. As to what the members previous username was, I've not got a clue. CyberMav?. Naaahh, surely?. Naaaah lol.

CUDA reminds me of SkyRocket with his attitude and his bias. Time will tell if my spidey sense tingled for no apparent reason after reading his "if you own any AMD card, you're on the dole" post :D.

Yeah the toxic 5970 leaves the standard card in the dust.

900mhz/1200 up to 966/1254 with a bit of tweaking.

On the mobile front the GTX485M Vs. 6970M is interesting too.

Trying to get my 460M to play with my notebook atm.

*Cough*, sorry, I'm allergic to BS.

Stop spewing ****e and back your statements up with some numbers. Pretty much all review sites test with 4x AA at high resolutions (just look at TPU! for example), and you'll see the AMD cards actually pull ahead - so Nvidia cards do really well with AA vs AMD do they? Maybe at 1280x1024 - because every GTX5xx owner plays at that res.

As you can see from this link, the 6950 starts around 10-15% slower than the GTX480/GTX570, then as the resolution/AA goes up, it gets much closer (only 3% difference at 2560x1600 between the GTX480/GTX570 and the 6950).

Oh, and my last three cards were Nvidia.
