Will I ever pass my driving test?

mate, its not down to judgement, speeding is a major, and that means instaFail. if you don't know that, then you need to do a bit more theory and I mean that sincerely. You should not be sitting there saying 'i was speeding but i thought I'd have been all right'.

I failed my second test too - 30 in a 20. I didn't sit there thinking i should have got away with it. Stupid mistake but there you go, i should have paid more attention to the piddly little 20 sign when i was trying to negotiate that roundabout.

I understand that speeding is as you put it instaFail I like you appeared to, genuinely just missed the sign, its an honest mistake. I wasn't deliberately thinking, I'm going to speed here. I never sat there thinking I'd have been all right on the speeding, that was a genuine mistake that I've learnt from and won't be making again. With regards to the round about, I thought i'd have been okay. I understand that this is obviously would not of been the case because the expert deemed it wasn't safe. I can see where he was coming from, but I've got to respect its his decision to make.

"I didn't mean to run over that pedestrian, it was a genuine mistake"

Your intention is irrelevent - missing the road sign means that you weren't aware enough thus you failed. Pulling out on another car means that your judgement is not sufficient.

It's no big deal though - you now know what to focus on before your next test. You'll have a much better chance of passing next time though if you recognise that you failed because you need to improve these areas of your driving rather than it being down to bad luck/bad examiner etc.

The good news is that if you do this, you'll probably be a better driver than many of your friends who passed first time as you'll be the only one to really stop and think about how to improve your driving. It may just save you from that almost inevitable first crash in that first year after passing your test.

Hope you pass the next one!

So you failed due to lack of observation then? That's just as bad really.

Sounds like you need more practice behind the wheel before taking another test.

I nearly drove into a horse on my first test. I don't think you've got too much to worry about.

Did they really have driving tests back when everyone was on horse and carts

Man i failed 4 times before I passed. tests these days are ridiculous. I know some right ditzy girls who manage to pass first time but are completley **** when driving on the road.

a lot is luck tbh.

If you mean you can pass with a bit of luck then yes, of course you can be lucky and not make any mistakes on your test when normally you do. In your own case the fact is that 4 times you drove badly enough to fail, that's nothing to do with luck it's to do with your driving. It would have been lucky if you'd passed, based on your previous record maybe you were lucky the 5th time. ;)

My cousin passed on her 9th test.

9th.

You simply cannot lose more than that :p

She's been driving in London for the last few years though so knows the road now but still fails at parking ¬_¬

Very true.

could have passed due to luck or skill.

could have failed due to bad luck or bad skill.

Who knows.

I don't care though, I'm just glad it is over!
