** Official World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Thread **

Well I can now get 183k HP raid buffed with 50% block around 10-12 dodge/parry which is nice for tanking, or I can get 177 with 53% block so depending what we're doing is my setup.

Changed from Arms to Fury in my OS a few days ago and damn I love Fury, I proper melt faces with fury spec, it's great!

I'm finally getting acceptable DPS with my Fire mage, I seem to remember reading somewhere, or maybe I was told, that I should only put living bomb on one mob. What a load of rubbish that is. Spam it onto three mobs and then spank the first, then refresh the LB's when they run out..... DPS fiesta :D

You can have it on up to 3 mobs at once :)

Also, if you have the impact talent (at least I think its that one), a well timed Impact procc'd fireblast can spread living bomb onto nearby mobs automatically!

Impact really is OP for aoe, on halfus HC we have both of our mages go fire just for this, and they are pulling 100k dps +

meh I think I've become bored with wow again, I'm not in a raiding group atm and don't find wow pvp very rewarding so there's not really anything to do once you hit cap and get some half decent dungeon loot :( I'm finding I'm just not bothering to log in anymore.

This i just rejoined a re-roll guild to try and experiance the new content at that side of the game. End level content seems very dry to me at the moment.

This expansion is just another perfect example of how Blizzard keep simply moving the goalposts in order to keep people coming back for more, being a WoW player is like a dog chasing its tail.

As a player of 3-4yrs I'm no better today than if I had only registered a couple of months ago and yet the hours I've put into it is frightening, anyway glad I am out of it now.

Both agree and disagree with this.

I agree that they just keep moving the goalposts but what else can they do? An mmo is about advancing your charcter so their only option is to move the goalposts to keep people interested.

I disagree with the fact it's a waste of time, playing the content, having fun and enjoying yourself isn't really a waste of time. If you don't enjoy it and just play to play then it's a waste of time :D

though my opinion is warped by enjoying the social aspect, if I was guildless I may well have given up or drifted away somewhat. The laugh I have everytime I log in keeps me going!

It doesnt have to be just about advancing your character stats though, a little thought outside the box and you could easily create an MMO where each expansion brings new continents, new creatures, new storylines without having to raise the maximum character level and provide better loot than previously.

The trouble is, that it wont be as financially successful because there are too many players out there who are overly loot/level focused. Their interest in playing a game comes not from living out the role of their character, or following a storyline to see how it unravels etc. Instead they are reward hounds who play to get the best loot possible and watch the number next to their character tick up and achieve "server firsts". An mmo to them isnt so much an rpg as a virtual fruit machine where you deposit money and spin the wheels (fight a mob) and hope to hit a win (get loot). Story and Character take very much a back seat compared to getting 4 bells in a line and winning the jackpot.

You're right about the having fun part though, sometimes I think that people have forgotten how to play a game just for fun, instead becoming overly concerned about stats, kill death ratios, "achievements" and number crunching. I swear one day someone will release a game which is just a spreadsheet and people will be fixated with it and getting the best formulas and clinching the server first "Cell Alignment Badge" :D

I am not feeling this xpac at all, havn't logged in for weeks, cancled my sub now.

I'm the exact opposite, really loving the refreshed world and playing around with the changes. The increase in the overall difficulty of Heroics and raiding has also kept my attention.

However, I'm definitely starting to crack under the stress of running a smooth 'progression' raid but having to struggle on another alt because the raid I run on that is having issues with the difficulty (hello... DPS... I'm no longer gonna heal your silly behinds if you don't avoid the pulses on Atramedes!)

Feel very much the same, did faction change to force myself to quit raiding though.

Cata from the first 2 weeks i was thinking great content will be challenging for a long time, seems to have fallen faster than most in WOTLK, but i guess the players are getting better and its first tier of content compared to LK.

Might rejoin on second last raid patch get some gear and sell account once and for all, hopefully some of the wotlk vanity mounts/titles will bump the price.

Also a question to healers, has a changed at all? looks more like whack a mole still with lesser mana costs at best.

If the dps play like tools you find yourself drinking a lot. Blizzard want healers to manage thier mana but the responsability realy falls on the shoulders of the dps not overagroing or standing in the fire. Its made pugs a no go for me and I cba sitting online for an hour or so while I try to get a guild group together.
