HTC Desire HD (Ace)

Anyone know how to stop the DHD from automatically taking all the pictures that are on emails (ie in signatures) and adding them to the photo directory.

Its very annoying having to go through over 1000 pics when Im trying to upload a photo.

Got my DHD this morning.. Its such a step up from my old Hero! Everything just seems so much more responsive and smooth plus the screen is awesome! :D

Only problem is I got it from Orange.. Now I have it bundled with a load of crap I'm never going to use.. Might have to root it anyway and install another ROM.

Glad I'm not the only one then :)

I can take a photo while being perfectly still - I even took a photo of my garden with the camera rested on the window sill and it still looks blurred towards the left hand side and very faintly on the right hand side

I may just send HTC an email for now to see if they are aware of this problem and see if they are working on it or if they suggest that I send my phone in for repair then I will do it.

Maybe if it is firmware based then when I have installed Android 2.3 it may improve it.

Thanks all - Liam

What do photos look like with the back cover removed? There was a problem with the desire with the bit of plastic covering the lens. I just popped out the bit of plastic and pictures are much better! Downside is there is no protection for the lens :o I might try find a bit of thin clear plastic and cut it down and glue it in where the other bit was.

Back cover?? there isn't one? (or is there??)

I thought the only things that were removable off the DHD's body was the battery cover & the sim card/SD card cover at the bottom...

Rooting these is a bit more hard work than rooting a Hero! Finally managed to get the latest stock ROM on. Couldn't be bothered with third part ROMs this time round but didn't want all the Orange rubbish installed. Had to root my phone, install Cyanogen and then install the latest RUU!

I gave into temptation,

I rooted my DHD & installed Gingerbread 2.3 and I absolutely love it! :D

Everything seemed to go alright even though I had to do the long task of downgrading from 1.72 down to 1.32 at the beginning but I made a back up from there. Android 2.3 seemed to install fine and the only problem I encountered was trying to make a new 2.3 back up version in ROM manager and it said something like "can't mount image" or something and it fails, I've attempted it 3 times now - has anyone else encountered this problem and if so is their a way to sucessfully do a 2.3 back up?

Apart from thie minor issue, so far I am very impressed with 2.3!

Thanks all - Liam

Ok so here's the thing. I came from an HD2 where rooting and installing custom ROMs was basically a necessity, so I'm not adverse to it.

I'm now on 757 hours uptime on my DHD and have no problems/qualms at all. Why would I want to install a custom ROM/Gingerbread?

V2.* cwm doesn't support ext4 used in gingerbread builds, if you flash cwm 3.0.0.5 it works again.

I'm feeeling the same way - I tried numerous ROMs on my magic but haven't been tempted yet. Everything is working well.

Guys I'm off to New York tomorrow, and have a few maps on my google account online, is there anyway I can transfer these to the maps on my phone for easier navigation?

Never Mind I have found it.

Yeah your right, after some consideration I have decided to go back to the stock rom and just wait and see when Gingerbread 2.3 offically rolls out OTA.

So far I ran ROM Manager and restored my back up that made my phone go back to the rooted 1.32 version and I am on it now. I have also un-rooted through Visionary and removed it and also removed ROM manager but now I think I need to turn the Radio back to S-ON?

I'm a bit stuck here to what to do for my next step as I want the phone to be totally stock and with no mods. I have noticed that if I boot the phone up now using the volume down method it still boots up the ClockWork Recovery Mod boot program! How can I get this all removed?

Edit - I have done a bit of reading, and am I right that an easy procedure which would take me back to totally stock would be to download an official Stock RUU, run HTC Sync and then connect up the phone and set it to HTC Sync and then run the RUU Stock file on Windows and go from there?

Edit - I have just turned the Radio back to S-ON and have unrooted in Visionary.

Thanks all - Liam

Anyone else get a minor OTA update yesterday? The only thing I've noticed is that the cursor looks different in text fields e.g. when posting on forums. There's now a small triangle and posting on forums seems a bit slicker.

That one has been out for a little while now.
