Dell messed up

TBH to a pretty mega size company like Dell 1 or 2 screw ups a day are so not worth their time or effort even on higher spec macines.

If they did collect it, it would probably spent the rest of its useful life sat on a pallet in some mega warehouse awaiting testing and rebuilding.

Sounds like you went above the call of duty to return it, Ball was in their court. give it another week then do what you are doing, i wouldnt waste anymore of my own time on it.

Well done Castiel its good to have some honest people here.

The account manager is supposed to contact me because Dell have asked me to pay an invoice for the original machine when I have already paid for it.

They are disputing this even though I supplied my CC statement by fax proving it and the original receipt I received. So now they said that the original account manager has to sort it out.

This is unrelated to the second laptop, which after numerous promises, including the manager today telling me a courier was on his way they still haven't picked up.

Ok, we have a result after almost 2 months of messing about.

I met for lunch with the one of the UK sales directors earlier this week who promised to sort it out for me forthwith.

This morning the Laptop was picked up by personal courier, and the invoice was retracted. I also received a full refund for the laptop I did actually purchase which was been paid into my account today also.

So in the end I did get a free i5 laptop, even if I had to go through some rigmarole.

The moral of the story, Honesty pays.....as long as you are persistent.

Lunch with a sales director? How did you wangle that? Nice one :)

Took a lunch with a director of the company to sort this out? And 2 months?

Geez, I hope he paid for your lunch, I cba with 2 months to sort out their mistake, I would have wanted a discount on the next laptop too after 2 months of mucking around!

The company I work for throws a lot of work Dell's way, so they were obliged to meet with me tbh.

He did pay. If I hadn't sorted it out then I would have been billed twice for the same laptop. A discount on a future laptop would be useless as I won't be buying from them again, not personally anyway. I assured the chap I met with that our company contract is not affected by my personal experience but the tender offered.

Awesome.

I'm waiting for the "Dell haven't delivered my laptop, claim it's been signed for" thread now :D

Castiel, would you happen to have the email/phone of someone in some form of power that I could use? I've had a real problem with Dell and I can't seem to get above their damn first level support which is useless.
Thanks

So you've ended up with a free one anyway? - My head hurts after reading this.

You did the right thing OP, even if tbh they did not deserve your honesty.
