My first gaming PC - recommend some games for me!

Finally getting my first gaming PC after many years playing console games.

Can you guys recommend some good games that look amazing? I love FPS and adventure/RPGs. Can you also recommend places to get games?

I will be getting Crysis (£10 on Steam).

Maybe Far Cry 2 (£5 on Amazon)

Fallout for the huge number of mods.

What else?

Makes it look fantastic.
Crysis can probably be found cheaper in stores as well, though Steam has its own advantages for ease.

if it's your first online pc gaming experience then i advise you to stay away from world of warcraft, sometimes a lot of ppl can be a little nasty towards noob players, i've had many ppl say how nasty some ppl are on that game... it depends on how fast you can pick up the idea on how to play, also if you do choose world of warcraft then i advise you visiting the post on this site about wow cataclysm, some links near the start of the post you'll find very useful for example wowhead.com wowwiki.com and maxdps.com some more but it's been a long time since i played.

I would stay away from Far Cry 2, everybody who has played it hates it. Batman Arkham Asylum is very good and looks pretty. Mafia 2. Just Cause 2 is good for 10 to 20 hours, gave me quite a few laughs and will look great with all the settings turned up.

RTS, not RPG/FPS, but an absolute golden example of the genre. Arguably one of the best RTS games ever made.
