Adrin Flux vs Chris Knott £4.50 difference, same underwriter, what would you do?

To be honest, that tale of woe sounds pretty much the same as every non-fault claim I've put through an insurance company, be it a big name like Churchill or the little dodgy broker-only companies like Equity Red Star or Markerstudy.

It's why companies like Helphire exist

And tigerstyle: The police don't give a stuff. It's a civil matter.

I will never claim through my own insurance again.

The situation I'm most interested in is where you are wrongly accused. Markerstudy just paid out because it was cheaper than trying to defend. Anyone been in that situation with Highway?

Update:

The Flux policy is limited to 4000 miles. The Chris Knott policy is unlimited mileage. Flux want £830 for unlimited mileage.

Unless one of the companies I haven't rung yet can beat this, it looks like I'm going with Chris Knott

Pretty horrible story out there about Highway and an RX-7 that caught fire.

Have a search online and see your eyes opened!

I saw that thread. He did lie about track use though. I'm being extra careful and have asked Chris Knott to email me a copy of the schedule before I agree to anything.

I can tell you similar horror stories about Churchill and Equity Red Star.

Also Chris Knott have agreed to match Flux's quote while keeping the unlimited mileage, so here is the current state of play:

Code:
[b]Company Price Excess Underwriter Notes[/b]
A-Plan none
Sky Ins none
Chris Knott £730.00 £250 Highway Unlimited mileage
Adrian Flux £730.00 £250 Highway 4000 mile limit, £870 unlimited
Peter Best none
Tett Hamilton none
Direct Line £579.82 £250 N/A Boost cont. and filter not allowed
Brentacre none
Lancaster none
Nowell and Rich none
Basildon Ins none
Lifesure none
Performance Dir £766.74 £300 Highway

Looks like there's no way of getting away from Highway this year, unless anyone has some other suggestions.

I'm with Chris Knott this year, 2nd policy with them, used Brentacre inbetween who used Markerstudy. All the usuals such as Flux, Keith Michaels, A Plan, Sky et al quoted identically @ 550 quid all using Markerstudy. Brentacre came in @ 494, then Chris Knott beat them all @ 450 - with Highway.

I'm hoping I'll not have to claim, but in my experience as brokers and people to deal with they're not bad. Brentacre were more personal and nicer to deal with but, money talks :) And Chris Knott are winning loads of folks with modified cars over this year.

Have you recently hacked into my pc and stloen my insurance comparison spreadsheet, it's almost identical :D:D:D

I can't even get a quote from C. Knott, they only cover Integras for under 30s. I finally hit 25 and they raise their age to 30. How long before you ahve to be 50 to get quotes from some companies on performance bangers ;)

I haven't heard anything good about Highway, but then I've heard bad things about every other insurance company.

I'm insured with Flux (Admiral) and no-one else could get even get close to their price. Even direct to Admiral was £300+.

Chris Knott weren't competitive either and were £200+.

Actually I'm a bit disappointed at the price of insurance for my car in general. Especially as I have no points, no mods, no claims and live in a good area with possibly the lowest premiums in the country. Other cars with similar perf like an RS6 are £200 cheaper.

*snip*

Damnit, I'm ranting but yeah you get the basic idea.
I don't understand how with all the information at hand it hasn't been sorted already, I have witnesses, report forms, photos. How the hell does something like this take OVER A YEAR! :(

every non fault claim where the other party has lied and denied liability has been like that.

Not much you can do to avoid it.

Try ringing up Admiral, they have been giving the best quotes I find this year. Have taken all our cars and got a few other people with them as well.

Admiral group can't quote due to model.

Their quote engine only lists sub models (eg. GTI etc.) for 1994+ A32 Cefiros, it leaves a blank dropdown if you give it a <= 1993 Cefiro. Phoning them up their internal system does the same so a quick speak to a manager later and they wont quote.

Taken out the policy with Chris Knott today, but I'll still be looking since I have until early March to cancel. I don't think I'll get a better price due to most other insurers wanting 5 years claims history, which makes me look like a gigantic risk.

Also the Chris Knott policy has unlimited windscreen cover, which is an important consideration for me.

Peter Best Insurance - Future classic - <£300

Half the price of the anything else, modification allowed (not like for like), and can use my no claims on another car if required. :D

Might have to go for this.

Well this is a good start, just got the policy documents from Chris Knott and lots of mistakes, some of which were correct in the document I got them to email me.

It also turns out that I cocked up too. I have 6 years NCB, not 5

Just emailed them with the following list:

2) Engine capacity is 1990cc according to the logbook, not 1995cc
Price paid should be 250,000 Yen (exclusive of shipping costs, vat, duty, conversion and registration), not £6000
2a) Modifications not listed. These are: Brakes, Exhaust, Alloys, Dashboard Gauges, Boost Controller, Air Filter
2b) Should be Yes. I have a Toad AI606 immobiliser, Thatcham Cat 1, fitted professionally
2j) There are 3 cars in the household, not 1.

3c) Business use is not required, however if there is no difference in the price then please leave this on

4) Driving licence pass dates are wrong. These are <redacted> for me and <redacted> for <GF>

9) Insurer Direct Line, Policy# <redacted> NCB: 6 years

12) (ii) I am not a non-drinker. I have the occasional pint.

Accident #1 did involve personal injury

I am with Adrian flux for my 197, found them a breathe of fresh air after dealing with More Than for my accident last year.. obviously i have yet to claim..

I am going to ring them up soon and ask about adding more miles to my policy and insuring a few cosmetic mods as well as driving to germany

Spoke to Chris Knott and they basically told me that the way their computer systems work it can never put the modifications onto the form and you have to write in details by hand.

The rest of the stuff I need to amend by hand too.
