Just to let you know there is no point in this thread its just my general feelings!

About 9 months ago I heard The Widow by Mars Volta and I thought it was amazing, but I didn't understand the "noise" at the end. But over time I listened to it more and more and then it fitted in with the song! I thought nothing more of them afterwards.

Eventually I heard a clip of someone screaming when I watched Get Him To The Greek, I had to find out who sung it because it immediately drew me in, and to my surprise it was TMV and the song was And Ghosted Pouts!
After listening to that like there was no tomorrow I downloaded my first full album of theirs, Octahedron, and I was blown away by a few of their songs.

With Twilight As My Guide is in my eyes one of the greatest songs I've ever heard.

Eventually I listened to De-Loused in the Comatorium, and my god how amazing is this album! Each song is just brilliant but Televators and This Apparatus Must Be Unearthed are just phenomenal.

Now instead of moving off onto their other albums which I should do I have been listening to Omar Rodríguez-López. So far I have only listened to a few songs of his, Sensory Decay Part II being my favourite at the moment.

This type of music is really amazing, its just so crazy and so much noise but it all works together really really well!

So yeah, thanks for reading my nonsense but TMV rules and Omar Rodríguez-López is a genius :o

TMV are good, I do like it when artists aren't afraid to try something different... Octahedron is a great album, and it will be interesting to see what the next album has in store...

I'll have to check out Omar Rodríguez-López' solo stuff though, if you haven't already checked out Tool I suggest you do. Not quite so experimental but still good nonetheless. :)

De-Loused in the Comatorium has to be one of the best albums in the last 10 years. I assume you've already checked out At The Drive-In? Same guys, just not quite as prog-y.

Also +10000000 on the Tool recomendation, one of my all time favourite bands. I'd recommend you start with Lateralus and listen to the whole thing, the whole way through about 3 or 4 times before you pass judgement. I can still remember the first time I heard that album I was totally blown away!

You should try and find the recording Omar Rodríguez-López and John Frusciante made together, it's incredible stuff, I found it a couple of weeks ago and can't stop listening to it, you can get it free from his website. Frusciante also featured on Omar Rodríguez-López's side project/band album Sepulcros de Miel which is also worth a listen.

Great band though. I have a framed vinyl of De-Loused on my wall! New album should be out this year.

I shall be purchasing a few albums when I get some money. DITC is £139 but I am willing to pay for it in time.

I have actually acquired Tool 10,000 days after reading the thread on it here, haven't had a chance to listen though.

The Bedlam in the Goliath is a wonderous, wonderous album.

I've heard that, will definitely give it a go soon.

De-Loused is an amazing record, but they've been unable to touch that in terms of quality since.

Bedlam is rather good, but not as good as De-Loused.

Who'd have thought that getting OFF the drugs and being MORE prolific would hurt a band...

At The Drive-In were infinitely superior.
Not to say De-Loused was a bad album, Relationship of Command was just much better.

I must say I disagree, and I loved relationship of command.

If you look at it they weren't really doing anything new as ATDI at the time. Deloused comes across a far fresher sound that really feels like it was so much more of a challenging album for a band to create.

Just my opinion.

Fair enough.
I thought Relationship of Command was completely different to most of the stuff about at the time. I can't remember any bands about that sounded anything like them. Can you?

Except they sort of were breaking new ground with Relationship of Command. They took Fugazi's sound and turned it on his head then added a whole new level of intensity. They laid out a blueprint for the next ten years in post-hardcore with that record.
