Do you get disheartened when you die lots of times?

I know I do, thing is I don't get angry I just sigh then it just puts me off playing beit BC2 or COD etc, maybe i'm looking too deep into my kill/death ratio, because I die **** loads in BC2 best one was 0 kills and 6 deaths:D. I'm sure some of you guys are going to say "get more skills" or something like that:o.

Anyone else feel like this?

Depends on the circumstance.

On Magicka i'm dieing quite often sometimes. When its my fault or just plain funny its always good. When theres jack **** you can do to stop it it starts to get irritating.

BC2 its just annoying when your team isn't doing anything so you keep trying to advance and you frequently die after getting in close.

Yeah. I ragequit quite regularly.

I think it tsems from being quite good at certain games (BF2) and generally kicking butt.

I am getting a lot better at BC2 now, averaging at least 1.5 k/d, but I have a rule that if I get 1/5 minus, I leave for half an hour.

disheartened isn't the word i would use, absolutely annoyed to hell is the one for me, ever played call of duty black ops on veteran, its the most stupid, pointless insta-kill infested piece of crap in existance, you can't take two steps without being insta-headshotted by some AI bloke a thousand miles away! sooooooooooooo annoying! :(

Depends on the game.

If I'm having a bad streak at some FPS, I'm not going to get better at the game by giving up so I tend to stick with it. It only lasts until the next map anyway.

Game's like Super Meat Boy, sometimes I struggle with a level and think "This is never going to happen". Then it's sadface time. :(

I get disheartened when I die because my team are playing crap, because sometimes (in some games), no matter how good you are, there's only so much you can do when your team aren't supporting you. This is especially true in games like BF2 and BC2. I always give it a few tries, but will eventually quit if it's completely hopeless.

On the other hand, if I die because my opponents are genuinely good or I'm just not playing good enough, I just say fairplay and try again. :)

DotA esque games like LoL and HoN are 100% the worst for this. If your team is crap or even just one person on your team is you get to be dominated for atleast the next 20 minutes and you can't leave because you will get a leaver mark :D

Urgh, i spent 30 minutes none stop on the 'City' Darkness level on the Xbox demo. 500th time lucky i finally got over the blade by the start and got to the end... only to find out the par time was about 15 seconds less. Then it took about 5 attempts to take the 'short cut' method and completed it with ease...

I raged...

I only get disheartened if I feel that nothing I did contributed toward my death. Be it trial and error game design or MoH/CoD style spawn systems that will drop you right infront of an enemy with no time to do anything.
Fair enough if I die due to my own stupidity or lack of skill/judgement, I can always learn from a mistake or practice and improve but death beyond my control or influence **** me off no end.

Depends on the game. Jumped into Bionic Commando: Rearmed on hard a few days ago... it took me about 100 attempts and several hours to beat the first level. Epic game tho, and the feeling of beating the harder levels is fist-pumpingly air-guitar-strumming jumping-around-the-room good :p

yea, I lost hope in my team many times, 5 times in a row in fact when I was playing BC2: Vietnam. I hate it when players play solely for kills and not for the team. Its like playing on a console >.<

I get irritated if I die a lot at exactly the same place, and can't proceed if I beat that specific bottleneck.
Games like Crysis, HL2, and Doom 3 give you a lot of variety - you might die a lot, but not usually the same way twice! Batman AA was a good game, but had a couple of fights that were very frustrating because they took several sessions to beat. I gave up at one point, didn't play for a few months and started over at a lower difficulty. If the rest of the game hadn't been so good I'd have never come back.

No way man. I remember the days when your health didn't regenerate just by hiding behind a rock, and you'd always hit a checkpoint with no health or ammo. That's how it was, and you just tried really really hard to beat that part because you hated it and wanted to move on. I still get really ****ed, and often think about giving up on really tough bits, but have to continue.

Online is another matter. If it gets to the stage where I spawn and die, spawn and die, spawn and die... and the teams aren't scrambled.... and my team really sucks.... THEN I rage quit because I'm obviously too tired to compete on behalf of my useless team and ought to go to sleep.

MOH I sometimes have bad games and once I was 0 kills 17 deaths

It didn;t help I was killed 6 times in a row spawning by the same sniper guy :(

I'm terrible for this. I used to push myself through hard parts of a game but now if I die the game seems to get "relegated" to the bottom of the pile until I bother to pick it up again. If it's a death I know is my own fault I tend to have a couple more goes but if it's a stupid bug or something out of my control then it's [ragequit] time.

Result: A load of unfinished games, and no enthusiasm about getting them finished.

I know what you mean mate. To be honest I so rarely play games these days... but when I do I am always completely powned. It was the same on BF2 and on COD etc. These guys live on the games and are aiming towards the likely point someone is probably going to be standing before they come around the corner and are shooting just as they come around BEFORE they see anything. At first I thought they were hacking but I watched my little Borther and friends doing it.

*sigh*

Unfortunately I have a life so am never going to be that "good".
