***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Does anyone have a Volkswagen Schwimmwagen i could borrow for 30 minutes? :)

Which event is that for? I've done nearly all of the events in GT5 and I don't remember seeing anything that requires this..!! lol

Remember a top gear event which uses a kubelwagen and those damn pesky Schwimmwagen's would dart across in front of you...:p Made that event more interesting..

edit, ah read the post above. Its a seasonal event. Makes sense.. Thought I was going nuts.

multiplayer game started, just for fun, various tracks, any cars except X1/FGT
Come and play. Open room but will kick anyone who ruins the fun.
Number is 1472-4711-0038-4891-2693

lol jimmy
Go to "open loung" click the little globe button next to "start new room" and put in the number. Don't think I'll be around much longer though, I'm tired and getting fed up with little kids insisting the '09 de la Sarthe is somehow 10 times more realistic than '05?? Not to mention being massively arrogant.

Anyone completed the latest Seasonal bonus races yet (incl Corvette around Indy Road circuit as the 5th/final race)?

Dodgy timings rule once again if you havent

Between 1st and 2nd timing beacons on the 1st lap the player magically loses around 20s on every single run , and whats even stranger is the gap between the two markers isnt even that long hahaha

Can easily get Silver, but the gold I personally think is out of reach (all others in this batch were very simple - Gold completed on first run apart from the Cappaccino which I missed by .3s on 1st attempt)

Should be doable in the Corvette ZR1 with Racing Hards and an oil change.

Just been trying out the special licences, all was fine till I came to the top gear one and now I'm ready to launch my DS3 through my plasma, opponents keep giving me extremely gentle nudges on various corners which instantly disqualify me, generally in the cone sections where I have a car 3 inches in front so can't accelerate and can't evade left or right as touching a cone also disqualifies and if the guy behind me feels generous and doesn't ram me the one in front will slam the anchors on instead.

I was looking forward to playing the TG test track when I heard it was to be included in this, shame they used it on some of the worst possible challenges, don't even enjoy it in practice as if you try going more than 6 inch off the grass you hit the invisible wall and you still have all the cones everywhere :(

Keep plugging at it and it will just happen. You have to get lucky taking them on the corners without hitting them. I was starting to get annoyed at the Sebastian Loeb rally, I just couldn't do the 2nd one, not even a Bronze seemed possible. Then one day I just picked up the pad, took my time at it and got Gold 1st attempt

I have a feeling that it depends on your experience level too

IE even though it shouldnt, the more exp you build up doing other races the easier the ones you have left/cant complete become (which is rather artificial if you ask me) - ie exp done on different surfaces/different cars/tracks should make any difference to how one certain race is run, but it certainly appears that way - I believe a few have already mentioned this apparantly happening to them in this thread :)

Really? Like theres some algorithm that makes earlier races easier when you reach a later level?

Why can I still not do nascar specials then :p

I think it's more a case of getting used to the handling of different cars and becoming better as a driver the more you play it.
Not that the difficulty is based on your Exp. level.

Was going to ask the same question... The nascar events are really tricky. but the worst offenders are the S Licence events. I too have got troubles with the Top Gear Test Track licence test..

I had the same troubles with the camper van event, I eventually did it after I walked away and left it for a few weeks. I finally got gold, but it was one event I'll never want to do again..

Strange thing is, the S lience Monza event is awesome and great fun.. Game is inconsistent with its difficulty level - i've said this before.

I thought the S licence was pretty easy. Maybe not for straight golds, but I bronzed or silvered each one first attempt. The licences before felt harder to me!
