Trouble first erupted at Dulwich Hamlet FC and in the car park of an adjacent branch of Sainsbury's about 300 metres from where Mr Graham was stabbed. Police said between 50 and 100 young people from across south London attended an event at the club, falsely billed as a young woman's 18th birthday party.

Mr Manning said just before midnight two or three shots were fired, sparking panic among the revellers and leaving a 14-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the leg.

The senior detective said dozens of people ran outside where further shots may have been fired in the supermarket car park as fireworks were also set off. Mr Graham sprinted from the car park and got on a number 176 double decker bus where he sat at the back of the ground floor with a hood pulled over his head and a hand covering his face.

Mr Manning said: "Witnesses described him as clearly trying to avoid somebody and he was in a state of high anxiety and trying to conceal himself at the back of the bus. A few seconds later he jumped up, pressed an emergency button and gets off through the rear doors, literally pulling the doors open as they close.

"Tragically, the people looking for him were waiting outside at the bus stop. He is attacked beside some bicycle racks a short distance from the stop. A member of the public bravely gets off the bus and starts shouting at the gang. The guy who got off the bus picked Daniel up. The attackers were described by witnesses as 'sauntering off' down the road."

Now I grew up in circumstances which led me into the gang culture of the time, yet we never even thought about stabbing someone 24 times or actually attempting to kill someone.

What kind of things are we teaching our children if by the time they are 14 they have this kind of mentality?

And while I understand the fear induced by such gangs amongst the local people, what is going on with the 'wall of silence' met by the Police in this situation...

As a Parent, I cannot even imagine the pain felt by this teenagers Parents, and for what? probably some stupid meaningless argument.

I think you'll find it's the lack of parental guidance (i.e. they are raised by trash) and any kind of teaching that creates such inhuman beings.

Well, when you are dealing with such animals would you risk your family's safety so they can be caught by the police and go to jail for 2-3 years at best?

Perhaps but he could also be just like one of his murderers' ilk, raised by equally useless parents. I am more and more forming an opinion of (most of) the victims that matches those of the perpetrators.

What do you expect, we use to have a fight with other kids from areas what generation doesnt, that was it, a fight with fists and name calling. You have to ask why the current government pledged it would make people face prison if caught with a knife...aint happening.

Frankly anyone carrying an offensive weapon with the intent to use it as such should be given a custodial sentence.

A short sharp trip to the Royal Marine training 'Farm' might show them the error of their ways.

The Government are clearly scared of the cost of this, but how do you cost children's lives with a clear conscience.

Explain the above

How were they falsely billed?
Did they get money back?
Did they attend the club?
What was the club about?
Why is this important?
