Not sure about the 30's, but 50's-60's onwards.. yes. Although no longer quite the same scenarios, still the prevalence of knifes continued. And with younger people.
 
There is a problem with young black youths, gun and knife crime, you are not a racist because you say that, the statistics in London support the claim.

Operation Trident was specifically setup to target the problem.
 
MY view is that there should be specialised police units that can beat the **** of any gangs that even come too close whilst covering their face in the middle of summer.
If there is actually a severe punishment for gang crime then people will think twice. The parents should also suffer severe loss eg. get their benefits cut and have to take courses etc.
If youths know that they will be caught, beaten up and then thrown in a **** stained jail cell for a couple of nights i'm pretty sure crime will go down.

It won't be a violation of human rights IMO if they clearly have the intention of abusing their rights to murder someone.

You are quite right, however it is racist to dismiss it as unimportant because of their ethnicity which is what some poster here have done.

Great idea. This sort of punishment has been proven time and time again to be absolutely successful in stopping crime and engendering respect.

Was around the 90s when someone was stabbed to death in Wigan town centre, an Asian bloke with mental problems stab his mother and sister to death about 5 mins from my house about 3 years ago. Scary stuff.

meh- i come up with crazy **** when i'm tired but can't sleep.
I do however think that the parents should take a large persentage of the blame
