Basically I set the Gas oven mark to 7.

Removed all of the parts off the card and cleaned off the old TIM. Popped it in the oven on a baking tray with foil over it and little foil balls in each corner.

After 6-7mins pop 3 capacitors came out and hit the top of the oven :D

I instantly turned off the oven and opened the door to let the heat out and Bam! another one just popped out when I opened the door (There's a brown stain in my boxers now :o).

Looks like all of the capacitors have risen as well. Everything else looks fine, I might buy some new capacitors and try soldering them in and see if the card works :D

No chance thats ever working again, look at the alignment of some of the other components, they are all over the place - you used too much heat for too long and melted all of the solder :D

The parts were like that at the start. Its just the capacitors that have moved... :D

lol

Looks like the core has started to warp tho so even if you got it working I doubt it will ever be stable.

Yeah, those caps are not designed to be baked. They are only meant to be wave or hand soldered! Try getting some new ones. They are popped and died.

I tried fixing a PSU with a massive cap (4700uF 63V) which exploded and made me jump quite high. I feel your pain, but its worth a go right?

lmao never heard of oven baking a psu, sounds dodgy to me though.

im thinking of returning a card to a manufacturer, i might pop some caps off too as i know theyre just gonna tell me my card is fine and send it back, charging me £40

Yeah me thinks you should have started with just 2-3 mins, still I'd be all over that with a soldering Iron. If you manage to get it even slightly working again, you'll redeem yourself, no wait you'll be a hero!
