As the title says, I just finished watching all nine seasons of x-files and I'm left dissapointed, not that it was bad or anything, but maybe that the series had more to show? I really do hope they reboot the series at some point, just for the standalone x-file episodes, if not the main alien conspiracy. :(

Untill then, is there anything similiar? I heard Fringe was similiar.

The Lone Gunmen had a spinoff series - wasn't amazing but worth a watch.

As Castiel said, Millenium is worth watching - Lance Henriksen is great in that series. It was definitely cut short too so be warned.

If that left you disappointed then don't watch the latest X-Files film! Load of garbage IMO.

Just rewatch the X-Files but only watching the main plot episodes!

See if I was to recommend an the X-Files to someone (which I would, I loved it) then they would the episodes I would tell them to avoid.

It all started off well but get into season 3 and the mythology begins to spiral into a non sensical storyline that never explains itself fully and is only kept interesting by the superbly nasty Cancer Man.

The 'stand alone' episodes for me were in the main absolutely superb with Season 5 being the highlight.

And to the OP, Fringe is the to watch currently its superb..!

Fringe definitely, much better than X-Files imo. Stick with it though, the first season is good but it just gets better and better after that

Millennium....

This...a hundred times over this...Lance Henriksen (sp?) at his best. A lot darker than X-Files but the same feel.

"That" episode at the latter end of Season 1 still creeps me out to this day. Those who've seen it will know which episode I mean.

Millenium is the obvious choice.

Or, if you want to go the other way.. A bit more light hearted.. Could watch The Lone Gunmen, an X-Files spin off which focuses, unsurprisingly, on The Lone Gunmen. Its terrible.

Fringe is great.

I couldn't finish X-Files, did seasons 1-5 then the film. A few episodes into season 6, it just didn't seem right.

If you like David Duchovny I can highly recommend Californication.

Just finishing re-watching the x-files my self while the current tv series are on a break.

I'm currently watching Fringe

MW

Thanks for the suggestions. I will definitely be checking out Millenium, as I recall watching a few episodes on TV and enjoyed it. I will also be looking into Fringe as it sounds very similiar to the X-Files.

I like to watch something that has a similar level of character development to that of Mulder and Scully. Obviously the main theme of the series should be their jobs, but it just makes it so much better when you actually take interest in the characters themselves and how they interact and develop through the episodes.
