HTC Desire HD (Ace)

Afternoon DHD fans!

Ive had the phone about 3 months now and i LOVE IT.

How ever, i was wondering if anyone could give me soem tips/point me in the direction of a guide for personalising it a bit more?

Ive seen some amazing android desktops but mine at the moment is only a slight change on the bog standard one, how do people customise it so much?!

Hi guys. Thinking about ditching my iphone for this, no other reason than i fancy a change. I am partially sighted though so a screen magnifier is essential, does this have one out of the box or i there an app for that?

My phone syas software number 1.32.405.6....does that mean its an old rom?

if so how do i get the latest.

Technically yours is still currently the latest one. As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, HTC pulled the 1.72 update from OTA a couple of weeks ago due to the number of reported bugs with the release i.e. the SMS bug.

I managed to update to 1.72 over xmas before they pulled it and I experienced the SMS bug and also a couple of random restarts. Though when I rooted a couple of weeks back and then I took the root off & then reflashed with the stock 1.32 ROM and I tried to update again - HTC kept saying that no update was avaliable.

The last I heard off the XDA Developers forum was that HTC are currently working fast to get another new ROM released with all the fixes and that it should be released within the next month. To be fair if I knew about these problems before I updated to 1.72 I probably would have just stuck with 1.32.

Only one, but I think that's to do with Opera Mobile, which sometimes (very rarely) just hangs on a black screen when opening. Possibly something to do with the cache. I have to wait and force close it then it's fine after that.

Other than that none at all :).
 
Just got myself a Desire HD on saturday and all i can say is wow :D its amazing, best phone ive had to date. Just getting used to it now, but I seem to be getting random texts, no body of text, completley blank, and the sender is "&@!" or along them lines, is it known about or is it worth contacting Orange about this. Other than this the phone is perfect :D

I get these from time to time strangely as well...

Ok, ive looked on some forums and apparently "Orange" isn't aware of it but I'll contact them and see if i can get some answers off them.

Its nothing of major annoyance, but its just weird that im getting blank messages from some guy called &@! :p :p

I'm on Orange and I had a few of these through when I first got mine, I assumed that it was some kind of sim update or something? I just 'read' them and deleted them anyway.

Is anyone getting a bug where contacts duplicate themselves 2,3 and sometimes even 4 times? I only seem to get it when I've had airplane mode on for a while and then turn it off so I assume that the something funny must be happening with the SIM when it's 'turned' back on :confused:

Get these every time my phone restarts. Always wondered what they were, on Orange also.

Realised that i've got the 1.72 update, that would explain the texts disappearing. Just downloaded SMS Backup + so hopefully that will keep me sorted if it happens again :)

Is there any safe way of getting back to the previous version safely?
 
Does anyone else's phone seem to restart randomly on it's own sometimes? Happened last night to me. I can't find a reason why and it didn't reset the uptime.

Are you on the 1.72 ROM? If so then this is another bug in this ROM. I had a couple of random restarts before I sent my phone back to HTC too.

Is there any way of deleting background tasks like the weather sync, amazon mp3 etc that I don't use and are no doubt draining my battery?

I've not rooted.

I know you can get task killers but do they not close things down that you might need?
