OK im a big boy 6'3 and 18.7 stone, people always think im like 14stone, but i have big mussel mass on my legs.. there is a pic below my thighs and bum are worse! :D and this pic was 4 years ago.. you know the guys at the gym with sparrows legs and money arms? well im the opposite!

I play 5aside 3 times a week, mon - wed - fri... but pretty much crippled in-between, i get lower back pain, and my legs ache, i have been told that all my legs have expanded in mussel mass but due to not stretching everything is very tight and pulled, i feel ok sat cross legs and hunched up, if i straighten out im in a bad way, i cannot sit L shaped without my lower back and legs pinging me back.

touch my toes? cant even reach my knees!

I need to start doing some proper warm ups and warm downs or i guess i will have to give up playing the only sport i enjoy.. does anyone have a routine for me?

thats me at my desk 4 years ago, they are bigger now and that is not even flexing, they are freaky :(

work trousers are a pain to fit on :( i look stupid, plus side is i can where shorts at the gym and never need to do any leg work, also no need for shin pads well padded..

seriously though, im incredible hulk from toes to belly,,, then just chubby :D but at 32 now i feel im losing movement and need to be doing daily or even hourly stretches before something snaps,

Yeah, you definitely need to start stretching. Try a morning and evening routine.

I doubt you need to do hourly, but I think if you stick to a routine you should be able to increase your flexibility.

But speak to a specialist, nobody should have calves that massive without doing a load of work!

never ever done any gym work on my legs, used to be 23stone and was active, i think its from sport and being big, do you have any ideas for stretches, basically whatever runs from my back down to my legs feels tight :(

Donkey raises and standing raises stretch the calf muscles do them on the edge of a step for maximum stretch.

Also sit on the floor and try and touch your toes. Keep at it it'll take a while before you can do it Stretch and hold for 5 secs then release do again about 5 times try and do it twice a day but dont push it.

Poor flexabilty is why the big lads get called musclebound

Well calf stretches are pretty straight forward, hamstring and quads. All simple excerises but effective.

Appreciate you said you can't touch past your knees, but if you stick at it...

Stretch.

Glutes,
Hamstrings,
Hips,
Quads,
Calves.

The most noticable difference will be to stand on a golf ball with it under the heel of your foot with quite a lot of pressure and move it around in a small circle. This helps to loosen up the hamstrings and you'll notice an instant increase in flexability.

I like doing the trap stretch but then rounding my back as my entire back gets stretched, lats, rhombs, traps & spinal errectors.

Don't bounce in any stretches as there is a high risk of strains and injury. If you need to stretch each muscle several times so be it. After exercise and before bed does the trick for me and I can get my fingers flat on the floor straight legged whilst 'cold'.

this!!!

damn that is huge

That looks painful OP. I'd get to a physio and have them analyse your running etc and see if you can adjust your mechanics a bit?

yeah getting out of bed in the mornings is tough, i have an office job and find im stiff each time i get up (not in that way :D) i walk my dog x3 a day and that helps limber me up

You may want to think of getting/making one of these...

You can make a fairly decent one with two bits of plastic drainage pipe one thinner than the other and I used some bolts to stop the large piece coming off. If you do make one it should only cost about £8 for enough to make 3-4 as they are only about 18-20". Mine really helps me when I get stiff legs :)

I'd be a bit concerned that you're getting pain and your legs are that big without work, maybe you're using them a lot to compensate for a problem elsewhere..
