McClaren Sacked!

For the record, McClown didn't win the Uefa cup, they got spanked.

Also FC Twente, dutch league is weird, in his first year in charge they came 11 points behind AZ Alkmaar, who had finished 11th the year before. Twente had finished 4th for the previous 2 seasons, the next season Alkmaar lost a shedload of games under Koeman who had just come in, and they fired him.

He certainly didn't do badly at Twente, but he didn't take an 11th placed team and turn them into champions, he took an established top 4 side, watched Ajax in their crap years, and watched AZ drop out of the top four all by themselves.

Wolfsburg, semi unfair, another not particularly top team who had one year of success like AZ, then dropped, but the two managers they fired had them WELL under the performance the team should expect, IE top 5-6 in the last 5 years or so, with a league title thrown in aswell. Well over half the games, with under half the points, won 5 games in 21 is pretty pathetic, and on current points per game will finish well under last year.

But what happens when you hit the top four and suddenly have a heavy European campaign to run, you tend to suck balls. Considering the manager they fired last year did pretty badly, they still finished with 50 points in 34 games, McClown has them on 23 points in 21 games, so they are miles and miles worse this season than last season.

Yeah, and how were AK doing the three seasons before that? 3rd, 2rd and 3rd, was it?

As selective with your stats as ever I see, DM.

EDIT: As I said on another forum, if he'd won the Premiership with Tottenham, everyone would be singing his praises, but the Dutch league doesn't count, right.

He took a mediocre English team to the UEFA Cup Final and won the League Cup with them. In two seasons at Twente he was Runner Up and Winner of the Eredivisie at a club that has no record of success. Try all you want to justify ways of ignoring his success though. Oh and...bitter much about the Euros?

Gutted for Ginger Mac. Was speaking to him a few months ago as he came to watch us play football as I play with his son.

Hopefully he'll come back to England but I know he has a really high ambition and won't settle for a **** club. IE not coming back to Boro like I asked him to :p

Rotherham is like Sheffield's weird little brother with one leg shorter than the other and a penchant for hanging it's tongue out of it's mouth. Somewhere to avoid

I've got some family there so I've visited a few times, didn't think it was that bad. :)

Yeah but you live in Wales.

I've got family in Treeton and I avoid Rotherham as much as possible.

So true.
