I am sure you can use that to hire a time machine, go back months and erase the temporary pain.

Or perhaps you will spend it on physio?

Whatever you do with it, don't you ever complain about insurance premiums ever again because its this whiplash rubbish that is largely to blame.

That and helphire temporary car costs....

Hi, welcome to my world :p

At least you know what you want to replace it with! I dont have a clue as its a dilemma of buying a car which works so well for me. There is nothing else that will make sense while this thing is still servicable. I dont need to change at all, i just fancy it for a reason i cannot pinpoint as realistically there isnt anything better around for anything like normal money.

:/

I never complain about insurance prices, but at least now I have no reason to complain when they load my premiums for a non-fault claim.

But how much value do you put on having to spend half a day up the hospital, the stress such an accident puts on a mother to be, countless sleepless nights, several days off work, hours upon hours spent resolving issues over the phone and filling out paperwork, travel costs and time spent going to and from doctors, medical examinations and physiotherapy appointments, the loaded premiums you'll receive at renewal even though it was a non-fault claim.

All that before even considering pain, or any potential lasting effects that cannot be foreseen so early on.

£2.5k seems quite a lot. My fiancée got £1,800 but she was out of work for a month and has lingering effects. You must have really played it up to get so much.

Anyway, whippy compo for the sake of whippy compo is a real shame. I wish people weren't such nancies and could handle a some pain for a few days.

Nothing was played. My Partner and I were 100% honest at all times.

I assume you mock your girlfriend for being a nancy every day then, do you?

I shall look forward to the increase in my insurance premium next month then.. :(

Yes, it sucks - would you like the details of the careless idiot that crashed into me, so you can take it up with him?

This is what makes me laugh about people who complain about genuine injury compensation - they always blame the person that was hit, and not the incompetent driver that caused the accident. Seems backwards to me.

Give me some credit. I knew the response this would have, it's been a bit too boring in here over the last few days I've been observing again.

And you had to make phone calls?

Wow put like that and I can totally see its worth 2 grand.

You probably got paid for those days off sick anyway.

Ha ha are you his boss now? lol.

Well done on your claim money and why the hell not. Ignore whats been said in here good on you.

I see you're still selectively quoting (well reciting in this instance). :)

My sick days were taken as Holiday, so although I was paid, there was an effective loss of earning. (Which actually left me with no days off over my first Christmas with our Daughter, other than public holidays!)

Just seems weird that you received so much, yet from what I remember you just had a standard case of whiplash.

Her claim was for lose of earnings, not purely because she had pain. It was just unfortunate she couldn't do her job with the whiplash. If she was OK after a few days then claimed I would definitely not be alright with it.

It is entirely dependant on the Solicitor, I would imagine. I would expect some will go in with low requests to get it over and done with straight away to obtain a faster turnover.

Of course you will, good how you know this before you know if you've got anything more than just a bit of ache and before you've suffered a penny of loss of earnings for 'injury'. First thing everyone thinks of these days is personal injury. Money wont make the ache go away.

It's about time the whole thing was stopped unless you receive a life changing injury IMHO, crappy whippy compo claims cost insurers an obscene amount of money.

You were rear ended, it'll hurt for a few weeks perhaps, unless you've been seriously injured just man up.

I agree that too many people use a small accident as a platform to make an insurance claim.

However, a friend of mine had a similar accident several years ago and like you thought it's not worth claiming for some "crappy whippy compo" Recently she has been diagnosed with having a deteriorating vertebrae caused by the accident which could put her in a wheel chair very soon.

A 10MPH impact caused her to have a life changing injury. While I agree you shouldn't claim if you're not injured she 'manned up' as you suggested and will suffer for the rest of her life.

As an inside, .

Hurr :D

When did whippy compo start to be a big think, wasn't like this 10-15 years ago was it?

For the post above, Well if it is going to be a life changing accident, 2grand won't help will it? Gone after a few months!

No it wouldn't help. However if she had made a claim at the time it would be on record which would help her now. As no claim was made then she can't seek compensation to help her receive the care she needs.

Did she go and see a doctor/hospital?

Good on him? - Yet another "injury" claim that will be factored into next years premiums for us all.

Why the hell not? Simple. - As Fox points out, The gravy train stops at Joe public central. i.e. we all pay for it.

You should direct your sentiments to incompetent drivers, not me.

Or should I avoid getting my car fixed to make an insignificant contribution towards keeping premiums down, as well?

The irony is, there are many of you who criticise injury compensation on the grounds of it pushing premiums up, yet go on to recommend accident management companies like Helphire and Europa that charge the third party insurance company RIDICULOUS sums for hire cars and their services. £130 a day for a 1.6 Focus anyone?

u have to contact your insurance company too or it invalidates your insurance,, or so mine told me when i tried to go around them when i had an accident that wasent my fault

You have to inform them, and I did just that - Called them up, said I'd had an accident and that I was pursuing it with an accident management company. They asked a few questions and job done.

Yes she went straight away to A&E. They said she 'may' have whiplash and to go home and see how she felt in a few days. She had mild back pain but 'manned up' and thought it would go away.

From what she tells me the pain comes and goes but has got worse over the past year to the point she went for some tests. These revealed a bone had been crushed and was slowly breaking up. If it breaks up much more she will probably be unable to walk.

I dont once complain about premium rises and dont really care. I would be the first to claim, If some idiot who isn't watching what they are doing arse ended me.

Would they not have any records so that she could use them towards putting a claim in?
