so ive been having a talk with my friend. My argument is that people are greedy and generally dont give much if at all. My friend seems to think a lot of people give money to charity.

go to nspcc.org.uk donate some money and post a screenshot of how much you donate.

however donates the most gets a prize

No indeed, I see no point in NSPCC given how we have social services and the police whose job it is to lock up criminals, such as child abusers.

I'd rather give money to a charity which is not trying to do a government function, such as something that saves monkeys somewhere (and I'm not giving to Oxfam or the like as we have spent far too much money on these countries and it has all been wasted)

That doesn't mean children will do well after that. Ludicrous thing to say.

***No insults***

I fundraise throughout the year and donate to a different, usually local, charity each time.

I rarely fundraise for organisations that I haven't researched, and certainly don't give to those who stop me on the street, knock on my door, or attempt to manipulate my emotions through 'tearjerker advertising'.

As for Rude Chuggers - "Don't you care about people with cancer/the starving/flood victims etc?" - How very dare you, you utter cretin.

No, I won't help you cross the road Old Sweet Granny because that's why my taxes buy traffic lights.

No, I won't jump in to save you Drowning Toddler because that's why we have Life Guards.

You pay tax for the well being of children? Is this a new tax? A police man's job is to uphold the law, not to make sure children's well being is of an accepted standard.

However understands the point in this thread, fill me in please. Whoever, I probably won't donate.

Platinum wants to give however donates cash monies to the NSPCC a big kiss. It's not hard to understand, whoever, I hope I have now enlightened you. ;)

How much did you donate?

Yes, but that doesn't stop children being abused.

I never implied it did.

Perhaps NSPCC take a more active view point as child services can only act on reported cases.

I don't have any evidence that either reduce child abuse cases.

Failure to keep your child's well being at an accepted standard is a crime, and as such it is the job of the police and social/child services ...

Perhaps if the government shut down child services then I'd happily give money to NSPCC, but until that happens and I get a tax reduction to match (even if it is a whole 50p) I'm not doing it.

My point above takes a stance on this.

If it is reported I no doubt they will do what they can but unfortunately in some cases they don't.

Such as Baby P.

Edit - And why not fund both? Why does it have to be one or the other? And as I said, child services get their tax but don't do their job well in certain cases.
