I fail to see right now how the parts they are fitting will effect reliability. Note I said they *WON'T* be remapping the car.
Hence unlikely there will be any power increase apart from the FMIC. All they are doing is take possible weak oem/stock parts and uprating them where there is possible weaknesses and for bling.
Warranty wise if something breaks due to a changed item, simple, remove modified item, put stock item back, take car to Mitsubishi.![]()
And if they ask how the fault occurred you say........?
lol
I wish it were as simple as that.
Anyway... I look forward to seeing some of the Forge upgrades fitted to the X.
Theyre pretty well known on VXRO.
Its been that easy on my last three warranty claims.
1. 2 wheels showing some bubbling but not on the face. Dealership says its not on the face so not covered, I say its corrosion which warranty covers. They say OK we shall take photos and send to HQ. Two weeks later 4 brand new wheels fitted to car FOC.
2. AYC problem, light on in dash, take car in and they diagnose pump issue, 2k to fix and repaired under warranty, took 2 weeks for HQ to send part as was over new year and 1 day to do the job.
3. Paint on arch peeling off, initially had issues due to a previous repair in that area which HQ refused to repair obviously. So I requested dealership do it at their cost, after a convincing argument they agreed to fix at their cost and offered me a new Subaru Sedan STi for a days test drive in the future for causing me stress.
So its actually been rather easy indeed making claims against warranty. Wheels is about £1200, AYC Pump £2200 and painting arch £300. The car is also modified with the exhaust and they say an exhaust does not void warranty unless of course its an exhaust issue in which case Milltek would sort.
Warranty work is very easy as long as you know your rights and are smart and go about it in the right way.![]()
Fitting a different intercooler with no remap? How will they know if its improved anything without a remap? Do they expect the standard map to adjust to suit the intercooler? If so its a disaster waiting to happen.
If so its a disaster waiting to happen.
ORLY?
Lower temps are always a good thing.
Still needs mapping, changing the air intake and intercooler(probably going to be bigger/flow more than standard) will still affect the engine regardless of temps.

They could use the eye.......

lol i know that. Bet you get the general idea.
A map is nothing but but a file... All files have a creation and modified date.
Not saying anything is going to go wrong with yours... Afterall you'd be heading to a well known/established tuner and not some Thorney'esq cowboy garage!
Would not go anywhere near Thorney, go to place that has lots and lots of recommendations and very happy customers with no horror stories.![]()
