older games you wish were still popular

Before broardband had taken I was lucky to have a good LAN place to visit, used have such good fun with doing Rainbow 6 campaigns, UT, AvP and Carmageddon. Then along came BB used to stop all hours with the frustrations of gamespy and Star fleet command, spending ages setting waiting for Operation flashpoint games to start and then crash. At least MOH, UT, tacops, bf1942 and rtcw was stable fun.

Haha I'm not sure if your being serious or not, but yes!

This and Age of empires 2

Im being dead serious. Me and my brother were addicted to pokemon like it was crack. That and classic mario brothers for GBA. I used to play that so much when it was quiet i could hear the theme tune in my head. I heard it so vividly i would actually shout upstairs to my sister becuase i thought she was playing on it..when really it was me showing the first signs of mario madness..

TFC and DAoC, the two games that captured/stole most of my online time.

I still have a dabble at both every now and again!

UO and Daoc, simply put, imo the greatest two MMOs ever to grace a hard drive. Embodied everything that makes the MMO genre so great and were both light years ahead of the competition and really highlight how shallow "modern" MMOs are.

I know I've already posted in this thread, but UO and Daoc were so good that they warranted another mention :D

I tried Excal when everyone was given a free week (I think this was during the merge with US), it was dead.
I've tried free shards a few times, quick and easy fun however it doesn't quite have the same feel.

Yeah, the Ywain cluster on US is where the population is now. Not a patch on the populations of old but usually quite active on there in the evenings.

Though some would say that its a direct result of WoW becoming so popular that it got that bad reputation in the first place. Most people I see complaining about WoW are complaining about the people who play it rather than the game itself.

Same for counterstrike pretty much.
