Hi all,
I have just had to claim for my desktop PC as my pipes burst and water went directly into the top of the case whilst powered on, I managed to dismantle and dry it put pretty quickly, left it for a few days in a hot airing cupboard and there is no signs of life except the PSU fan comes on.
Direct Line have agreed that they will payout, and have past my claim onto a specialist, which can take another 5 days before they even contact me. My. main worry is that they try and offer me a ready made PC World or Dell machine of similar value (£800) which would not bring the spec even close to what I have just lost (sandybridge 2500, ati 6950 etc).
Has anyone made a claim through Direct Line for a home made PC? Do they pay by cheque, hand out a high st shop pc, replace the parts or what? Has got me very worried and not sure where I stand if they do offer me something I am not happy with.
Sorry for my longwinded 1st post.
