Metro 2034

(before reading on please keep in mind that I'm a S.T.A.L.K.E.R fanboy ;) )

Lol I love how it says "can compete with Call of Duty's"... Imho Metro 2033 was faaaaaaar superior to the latest installment in the Call of Duty series. I don't mean to offend anyone's opinions here. I really think that Call of Duty is a phenomenon, selling this many copies is an outstanding achievement.

BUT

The game itself was a copy/paste, shoot the guys that are a bit more red than blue, shoot'em up game like hundreds others. For me the Black Ops was a Major letdown featuring well aged graphics and poor story. I refused to buy the new Black Ops.

Metro 2033 however, was a breath of fresh air. Sure you could sort of sense the influence of games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R but it was still a fresh experience. I will surely but the new Metro 2034 even if it gets really bad reviews just to support people who try to create something new and compete with Call of Duty franchise.

Great news there. Thanks very much for sharing I will keep track of how the game develops :) Ta

I really liked 2033. Was an interesting variation on the first person shooter genre, especially the way you had to scrouge up weapons and ammo. Will definetely be getting the sequal.

Haven't even got around to playing the first one yet. It's one of those games I'm staying away from until I get my brand new super uber rig. :D

The first one was mediocre. The fact that he even wants to compare it to the cod franchise just makes me not want to buy it.

The thing about games like STALKER and METRO 2033 is that you have to feel the atmosphere. Without it the game would be just a weak shooter.

Comparing the game to Call of Duty seems to be a bad idea for marketing because in my opinion it's a bit like comparing C&C games to Civilization. Same sort of genre but not quite the same target audience.

I really enjoyed the Metro 2033!

I like it becuase it wasnt just a fps, it was also a adventure game, like when you need to climb up stuff etc... eg the tower right at the end, chased by the monsters etc....

I waited to play the game untill I got my 5870, and other than msaa and depth of field my rig played the game max settings...

The surface bits are simply gorgeous to look at.

**** competing with CoD, just make a good game.

this.

"competing with CoD"

means we've dumbed it down to the lowest common denominator and removed anything challenging or unique that would confuse a drunk frat boy.

Tbh I dont think Metros atmosphere was that good at all.

Metro 2033 was mediocre.

It had some interesting ideas a good atmosphere, but didnt use any of the ideas. It was as generic and as unexciting as they could possibly make it.

Enjoyed the first. Will keep an eye on this.

No atmosphere? Sometimes I wonder if some of you even enjoy playing games...time for an alternative source of entertainment?
