*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

can you just press menu then exit? try winamp its sweet!

The Music app does not have an 'exit' button. And really no app should need one. So long as it is written correctly then it will not consume resources when not in use... however a Task Killer can be of use sometimes ;)

Also I recommend PowerAMP for playing music... free trial available, about £4 to buy.

PowerAMP is properly epic - best app on the market IMO.

Hey guys,

I think it's time I rooted my Desire no? :p

What the prefferred version at the moment?
I'd quite like one that adds swype.
Also is anything better than the standard built in tethering?
Anyway to inprove the reception?

Thanks in advance :)

Also anyone heard anything about hte forthcoming Playstation Suite?

Right, Im sick of restarts with custom roms now. Had them with Oxygen 2 and had them with defrost. Whats the most stable rom? Ill i want to do is complete a damned journey with nav on.

I also have oxygen hboot table. so i guess i need to flash that to try another rom but i cant remember how to do it.

Try Oxygen 1.0.4. That is the most reliable custom ROM I've used. And being Android 2.2 it shouldn't suffer from the reboot bug that ASOP 2.3 has.

Hey all,

I have recently had my desire repaired by HTC however while it was away i started reading up of the Orange San Francisco and how easy it appear to be rootable. Would it stupid of me to sell my desire for one of these if i wanted to have a play and rooting and such?

Or can someone point me to a easy to understand guide on rooting my desire, it's Orange branded i understand that might make a difference in rooting?

Thanks

James

Rooting your Desire should be easy. It took me about 30 mins from start to custom ROM.

Got a link to the guide you used? Please.

I have googled and found guides talking about goldcards and some that don't so wasnt sure what to go by?

I didn't really use a guide. I was told to use unrevoked first to get root (simple download, click and run from Windows, with phone connected via USB), then use Alpharev (Linux ISO image you boot your PC with and connect phone with USB) to make the HBOOT allow the system partition to be read/write. Then install a recovery image (AMON-RA is my choice) then you can flash custom ROMs.

Each step I followed from their respective websites. I'm sure there are step by step instructions but I didn't use any. Just help from friends and forums.
