oblivion load time 360 issue

Hey guys, on my win mobile so forgive spelling mistakes if any. No net at the new house yet... Need to get that sorted!

Anyways, I am having HUGE issues with oblivion, the load times are over 10 mins, menu often locks the game for 5 mins and when moving around the world it sometimes doesn't load sounds straight away. Such as walking, will eventually load the area then no actions sounds for a min or two.

I have tried to play with the game uninstalled and installed. I have the gory edition. Any ideas anyone?

And yes, I have the 2 expansion packs installed from the second disk.

Anyone got any ideas?

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Have you checked the basics i.e is the disk scratched/have you updated the game? Do any other big games do this? Could be a fault on the disk if you're saying that you've installed it and it's still buggered.
 
I would update, but no internet...

I updated it less than a month ago so should be updated.

No other games suffer, disk is still like new, never been left out of the case. I think I will try uninstalling the expansions.

Oh, re my mistake, at least it was a funny one! Lol
 
I've experienced this on a mates xbox. I fixed it by clearing the cache.

I'm on my phone so it's too much trouble to get a link, but it just involves turning the xbox on with a button or two held down.

A quick search should sort you out.

I remember having this problem way back in 2006 when oblivion was released. Clearing the cache fixed it for me too. ;)
 
Ditto, I'm on my Android phone!

Try clearing the cache from the Xboxs main menu. I can't remember off hand the key combination as I did mine a long time ago on my original console which I've since sold after buying my slim, but I'm sure a quick google search will help you find it unless anyone on here knows the button combination.

There isn't a button combination anymore, it's just called performing maintainence on the drive now

Go to the My Xbox menu and go all the way to the right.

Select "System Settings"

Select "Memory." A new screen will appear where you must select a storage device.

Scroll to your "Hard Drive," then press "Y." A hard drive "Options" page will appear.

Choose "Clear System Cache" from the "Options" screen. A prompt will appear informing you that choosing this will perform maintenance on the hard drive.

Select "Yes" to begin performing maintenance on your hard drive.

Well, it worked wonders but also brought up a few other issues.

Understandably it reset all my auto saves, meaning if I went to play ME2 it loaded up the most random save (I create a separate save each time in RPG's... You never know when you need to back track!). Not an issue, just have to load up manually.

However, one game has now bugged out, I am on the last mission or 2 for RDR, wanted to complete it last night due to picking up undead nightmare, went to load my game... Has the save with the title "purely for scientific purpose" which is a mission, load it, and new game intro scene plays and stick me in the world as though it was my first time playing it! Tried everything...

My AC:B disk cracked as well... Just not having luck with the 360 at the moment. Sucks.

I can't send back my xbox for repair due to being out of warranty and also opening it up to sort out the cooling on it. The console sometimes locks as well...

Worth buying a slim and trading my one in?

Sorry to hear about the unexpected side effects. I found when I did it I had to re-download the updates for each game I played but after that it was ok.

Worth buying a slim? I would say yes, but only if your old machine becomes unusable or blows up(like my original 360 did - hence why I now own a slim).

It will be because the saves are now incompatible as you haven't got the title updates for those games any more. Wait until you have net then try again.
