Stopped for speeding

Most manufacturers deliberately knock the speedos out, all VAG cars are out on the instrument cluster but the can bus speed is accurate that the ECU uses.

You can calibrate this out by changing a setting with Vagcom/VCDS. I did this and the speedo exactly matches GPS up to 100 ish then it is out around 1mph. I suspect Audi changed this setting on the TT-RS press car that Evo has as they commented on its top speed run that the speedo was only 2mph out at 169mph.

I know it's been mentioned earlier but how on earth can you think this!? He gave you a ticket for doing a whole 4MPH over the limit.

You think thats bad, Sideshow Bob got sent down for attempted murder :O

Seriously "OP was only breaking the law by 14%" isn't really justification of heavy handed policing :P

I'm surprised he didn't let you go with a telling off, I always think that is far more effective to someone who is just over the limit because otherwise, as in this case you come away thinking the copper is a ****.

I'd be inclined to try to wriggle it if it doesn't have your reg number on.

Well due to an administrative cockup by the Police I'm going to get my £60 fine refunded and my license returned to me with no points :) :) :)

I often notice cars with digital dash displays passing me, or me passing them, often their speedo reads less than my calibrated tachograph!

Sure over reading is FAR more common, but never discount the fact it could well be under reading, and by quite a margin!

How accurate do you think GPS is, in a clear area like a motorway, travelling at a constant speed?

Nice to hear you got off your ticket! (or the copper finally got some at home and "lost" the ticket)

Last week sometime, i was following a panda car down a 40 limit road.. doing 60!! (according to my speedometer and speed matching) He (or she /person) didn't have the blue epileptic lights of doom on, nor the siren of sheer panic going.

I thought, well if he is doing it (being a representative of the law) i can. and i did.

:D

Nice one. There is some justice in the world. :)

How is somebody speeding not getting fined and points justice?
Justice is when somebody is not guilty and they are proven not guilty.

When somebody is found "not guilty" or a crime is "thrown out" but the person was in deed guilty, that isn't "justice" - it's far from it.
OP was lucky, nothing to do with justice.

Don't think it was the fact the reg number wasn't there, just they ticket office never got the ticket from the Officer involved.

:D

police have an exemption in law for speed limits for policing purposes, and there isnt a requirement to use blues and two's for the exemption to be valid.

34 in 30 is a bit harsh, bet your happy for the error :D

probably got back to the nick and realized he hadnt put the VRM and just voided the ticket.

Result, I am happy to see an administration error which ended up in your favour, that's got to be a pretty rare phenomenon :D
