trying to hit 800mhz on a msi 470!

Memory clocks seem to be hit and miss on the 470, some hate going more than a few mhz others will do 2000MHz no sweat.

My average performance gain going from default to 2000MHz was ~2.5% so not really worth it.

I need 1025mV to get 800/1600 stable, been using to for 2 months now with these settings and the only time it fails is playing Crysis

How many test with an artifact scanner like OCCT using the error detect?

As I can do 800 core at 1000 mv, furmark or kombustor do not exhibit any visual corruption and games seem to play fine. Yet OCCT detect thousands of errors in the first 15 seconds.
I think the definition of stable varies from person to person.

I just whacked the voltage straight onto max and got my cards in SLi @ 830/1875 perfectly stable. Temps never go above the 60s in games.

+2 - I find this hard to believe, sli as well > What are you playing PackMan. ;)

Using a custom loop, at 800/1600/2000 1.000v > 51'c < when the Boss has the CH on room temp 22'c, at 850/1700/2000 1.025v 52'c.

Ivw had my pair of reference gigabytes at 800/1600/1684 on 1.012, tested them extensively with a myriad of benches and games, heaven, lost planet 2, (good one for memory), dirt 2, resi evil 5 and bfbc2 which i play a lot of, strangely though i ran heaven a few days later and it white screened on me, only ever seen this before on bc2 with beta drivers when using more than 4x aa, ran dirt 2 and it passed fine at the 800 clocks, as did 2 hours of bfbc2 on max settings with 8 x aa.

+1 > tested card, heaven, benchmarks, games, no white screens, using WHOL Drivers BC2 again no white screens.

As for Overslop, his 470's must have custom coolers on? thats why he's hitting 60's gaming.

I Agree, and from card to card.

I've tested several 6950's, every one OC's a bit differently.

Under OCCT one would never artifact or error, just would crash the driver when set too high. With the same OC as set stable in OCCT shader lvl 4, Heaven and COD would crash.

Another card when pushed in OCCT would artifact and error like crazy, but with those same clocks in Heaven and games was always stable, no crash, no artifacts.

Wierd.

And other cards were mixes of the two extremes, above.

Kombuster's preset settings (as launched from AB) are no where near stressful enough for stability testing. Launch the stand alone program and increase demand from the settings for better stressing. It is still not as stressful as Furmark, which it is based on, beacause it doesn't have the xtreme burn setting Furmark does.

In Furmark the most demanding setting is xtreme burn mode, post processing on, NO MSAA, and a lower rez like 1280x1024. Fullscreen 8XMSAA is not as much of a load as ^.

I dont put much faith in furmark at all, it doesnt test memory very well, i had a gtx 280 that was playing up. It could run furmark for 30 mins without issue, the minute i started playing cod mw2 the card artifacted. Sent it away and found out that the memory on it was borked.

Been playing Bioshock 2 and Killing Floor mostly - all settings maxed out with 32 AA @ 1920x1080.

That's not great temps you were getting for a WC loop.

Yep, they are both MSI ones with the Twin Frozr II cooler. I was posting because I have the same cards as the OP.

Im hitting 81-76c now on auto fan, 751/1502/1684. I removed my ghetto fan mod and fitted an antec spot cool, though it's not in an optimal position due to the short 3 pin fan cable it has, once i get an extension it should help.

Should do better if i can get it just down below the topmost gpu, theres plenty of mobo holes to mount it on but the stock fan cable is too short to reach an accessible header.

At stock a single 470 copes pretty well with the majority of modern games, ive went back to running my pair at 751/1502/1674 as theyll do this on stock volts, and they handle anything i play with ease at 1920x1200 with decent levels of aa/af.
