Best Sandybridge Air Cooler that doesn't block RAM

I'm looking to upgrade to Sandybridge but would like to run with all 4 RAM positions filled - probably 16GB of Corsair Vengeance (planning on running quite a few hungry developer VMs at times). I was wondering what coolers are out there that won't cause problems with the RAM slots. The overclocked bundles seem to run the Corsair A50 and Akasa Venom. Anybody else got any suggestions?

not sure, (correct me if i am wrong guys) but one of the best coolers is the noctua nh-d14

or the Thermalright Silver Arrow is about the same, but slightly cheaper

The Noctua and Thermalright are within budget - but just want to know if there is enough clearance above the RAM slots for the memory

It suppose I could go for G.Skill Ripjaw instead and get the Noctua - according to that chart - useful link

Anyone have any other suggestions?

i would suggest a corsair H50 / H70, would give plenty of clearance, might not cool as good as some air coolers but it is a guarented fit.

i know you said best air cooler, but it is basicaly an air cooler, as you dont have to worry about plumbing anything yourself, just bolt on the same as an air cooler

I've got the 2500k, megahalems mega shadow and 1 Akasa viper fan.

Idles at 28-29c and max is about 61. That's with a 4.4mhz oc and pwm control. The fan is very quiet and it never seems to get to full speed.

That looks like a good solution. Any pics of your setup?

Nope! Forgot to mention, I'm using the Noctua fan on it's lowest setting (600RPM), and still getting the low temps posted before. Can't hear it at all

Chapparal - I'm very impressed with the Zalman CNPS9900-MAX - looks fantastic in your pic. What sort of temps are you getting? Also, how are you finding the Asrock board? (edit - Just found your thread)

Yoga - did you have many issues with your overclock with the 16GB? I thought it might struggle much above 4GHz.

Right now i been running prime for about 30minutes and my CPU temp is staying around 59c to 61c at 4400mhz


But different vcore voltages / cases / room temps / Etc etc will make everyone even with the same CPU cooler have very different temps..
