hd 6950 2gb or evga gtx 570

Seriously without trolling both are really good cards, no sensible answer can be given without you saying what resolution it will be powering.
 
hi sorry 1680x1080 have got an lg l203wt at the moment and I have no idea how or what to do to unlock the ati card? but I would be upgrading screen in the future not sure what to. I play cods/battlefield first person shooters and flight sims
 
Well most reference 6950 cards can be unlocked to 6970 performance, which would probably mean it wouldn't be worth the extra cost for a 570. This depends on whether the card sold with the system can be unlocked, and if you want to do it.

the extra £50-60 outlay for the 570 isn't really worth it in my humble opinion. Stick with the 6950, it is a great card and as others have said will unlock to a 6970

GTX570 - installed mine yesterday and its superb :)

you can find them for £240-£250 now - so not really 50-60 more - more like 40 quid more than a 6950

heres mine :) - idles at <40C and underload using custom fan profile doesn't get above 73C in games - and thats overclocked :)

near GTX580 performance for less than £250 sounds good to me :)

to be honest at the res he is playing at the 570 is the better card but a 570 would never be as good as a 580 due to the smaller framebuffer which means not smooth gameplay at 1920x1200 and above.
 
come off it -its very rare to go above framebuffer at 1900x1200 unless crazy amounts of AA

GTA4 excepted

I know Crysis can again - but on some extreme settings

you only have to look at reviews, even at 2560 + AA of the 1gb vs 2gb 6950 to no difference (appreciable) in performance
