I don't want a job

I'm 26 ok, I have been working since I was 16 with the higest qualification as a FD. I have all sorts of external training, CPD sessions e.t.c. I find it rather angry about the way the working class is treat in certain situations and these are the slaves to the world. For example getting on the housing ladder (I'm struggling to do this because of the current house prices/first time buyer deals), the cost of living going up e.t.c.

Theres not enough incentives to work unless it's your ethos to be a worker. I work because 1. The money, 2. I get bored so need to keep on my toes. I do really enjoy where I work and will continue to do so.

Listening to that audio recording I can only agree with him because it's someones choice if they want to work for it, but in this scenario the working class pays for the non working class and if the government was to take away the dole scheme now there would be absolute hell on. More crime rates for sure and more people living on the street, this is what the goverment does not want to happen.

If he's happy on £65 a week... he wouldn't have to work for long would he? If he was smart he could easily earn that from home too.

That's his disposable cash though (minus food) - he'll get housing benefit etc.. too... someone earning minimum wage, working 40 hours a week probably has a similar amount of disposable cash left after paying rent.

Definitely time for a crackdown on benefits - if you've got no intention of looking for a job then you shouldn't get job seeker's allowance. If he doesn't want to work then that's fine - he's free to choose to not work - I don't care whether he feeds himself from supermarket bins or begs on the street but he shouldn't be claiming benefits.

You make a good point but the torrent download is by the by.

The fact of the matter is you will be living on what you have for the next 30 years, the rest of us will have a nice life.

Oh no, the leccy has run out...

Maybe, life is what you make of it which is true however life can also deal you some horrible decks. Like that storm chaser guy, he was on tv chasing storms and well popular. Had a wife and kids, he killed himself with an overdose !

Also disability could play a factor :(

Job centres should have exercise bikes plugged into the national grid, once you've worked off your daily KW quota, you get a shower, a meal and £10

I have no problem with him, if he can live off that little, good luck to him.

If everyone was employed, we'd all be financially screwed, so a few long term soap-dodgers is fine by me.

It's not YOUR £65 a week is it? I know he argues the £65 won't find its way back into my pay packet, but if we take all the dolies' £65 away it will go a long way to paying for an upgrade to the potholed roads, the NHS, the police and various other public services.

What a selfish *****!

At the end of the day I agree with him about its your choice to work. But that doesnt mean you live off someone else or the state. eg. He has the freedom to not work and go live in the hills in a tent :p

Somebody must own the land that are those hills? Does he live on their land rent free? How does he get food? Does he expect 'free' healthcare when he doesn't pay into the system and does he expect the police to attend if someone decides to kick his head in?

If he has enough in the bank cos he was born into it or earned it and retired then fair enough...don't work. If everyone felt like he does the whole country would fail.

Surely there is plenty of free land in this country where he could live in a tent. He could catch fish and wild animals for food. Who needs health care when you live in the wild beat the system!

Seriously why would someone "kick someone's head in" who lived in a tent? Just curious.

Military service - This one might be the best. I'm not a military man, but instilling discipline into a person at an early age might make up for the discipline they didn't get while growing up. Can also instill a sense of pride.

Hmm not really they will still be the same person that went in, they would just know a lot better what they are. Which is not always a good thing.

Unless the government set aside some land (as with the native American Indian reservations in the USA) for people such as him to live freely it's the least they owe him.

It's not really a choice to work if the only alternative is to roam the streets and not be allowed to settle anywhere, how is that any different from the old slave trade where masters told their slaves that they could leave but would lose their benefits given to them as slaves if they did (place to live/food etc)?

The fact is if this guy stopped claiming dole as everybody wants, built a home, allotment and lived entirely independently the government would soon come along and bulldoze it all, even if he was "contributing to society" by selling food he grew to local shops the government would soon stop him.

That is the problem, we are all born into a system with no opt out.
