Rift: Planes of Telera Beta

Was just coming on to post that video :)

I'm loving the idea of being able to kind of create and start your own raid in the non-instanced world. It's pretty much a ganker's dream though. Imagine fighting a boss for half an hour and getting him down to 10% health, only for a group from the rother faction to come along and kick your ass and finish off the boss :D Should be interesting to see how trion balance this.

Oh, and that dragon at the end was pretty amazing. I love how all the dragons look so very different. You can see more of them if you search for the Rift artwork.

That is how it should be. Shouldn't need balancing - You'll have to defend your raid :) Honestly, if thats how it is it will be enough for me to buy the game on that alone. UO Champ Spawns, anyone?

Happy Days :) Looks like the BT issues have been fixed and the game is running smooth as silk.

Any chance of joining the OCUK guild ?

Damn, just took down a Granite titan or something in Granite falls, madness. We were ganking him and he'd randomly raise a bunch of people in the air(I think, that might have been a bug :p) and slammed them down, every minute or so I died, and I only arrived there when he had half health. It was one shotting half the people in the raid very frequently :p

Have two builds, one with a lot more points in Necro than Warlock and Dominator for the squirrel hold, its a bit overpowered, 30 seconds as a squirrel while you gank someone else.

Second build is less Necro, more Warlock and Chloro with only a couple points in. I spam a life attack for 5% inteligence boost and get an extra dot which is really all warlocks are about. 4 dots on rotation that do between 100 and 200 over 15 seconds or so, at the end of which I have enough charge to use soul purge, it does 500 damage and heals for like 750 at the same time and is rarely interupted.

In a few levels from Warlock I'll have an attack that hits 8 people for around 300 damage and heals for the same amount.

At first I was finding PvP and rifts too quick, too mental, every player is silly powerful and fights seem very quick compared to other mmo's, but I quite like that everyones overpowered, when you get some heals it evens out a bit more.

Lots of people are complaining about the fairness of awards from rifts/invasions. I seem to do most of the work and get very very few of the shards, I'm fairly sure a couple times I've taken out a minor rift all on my own then someone joins with 10 seconds to go on the final guy, gets one hit, and I've seen them get a shard, though it could be from a previous rift/invasion.

Quite like the necro/warlock combination too ..... chloromancer is a good soul to take as well. Originally, I was looking at a Stormcaller/Elementalist ... but the nerfs have made it a hard task to level early on. I still think it may be a good end game build for raids & dungeons though.

Strangely, I've being having fun with the Cleric calling - a Shaman/Justicar/Sentinel build. DPS isn't anything special, but survivability is great and can offer some group/raid heals. Comparitively, every combination I've tried in the Rogue calling is DPS nirvana .... I love the Marksman/Ranger/Bard combo .... but it almost feels like easy mode.

Hi Guys, have just registered (Galifrey)

Would like to offer my paid for guild launch site for the guild if you are interested... a 20 slot vent server as well.

http://ocuk.guildlaunch.com/index.php?gid=171998

Cheers for the offer of your non-advert guildlaunch site, we might be having a chat soon re that :-)

For now, make your prescene known on http://ocukrift.proboards.com/index.cgi and I will have a chat with you over it. My main in game is Caprice and we will add you to the beta OcUK guild. Most people should be able to invite you if I am not online.

IMO the Cleric is the best class!

Shaman/Justicar/druid build is my tank build

Marksman/Ranger/Bard is my dps build, still trying work a healing, might go for Druid/Purifier/Warden

Has anyone played a lot of both Guardian and Defiant? Perhaps up into the late teens/level 20+?

I've got a level 24 Guardian and am really enjoying it. However I'm still on the fence as to how I'll roll when the game comes out. I have seen a few videos of the Defiant starting area and first World zone, but it's hard to get a decent impressions. I don't really have the time now to reroll a new char and check it out :(

Has anyone here played both? Comparisons?

I had a go yesterday for 4 hours or so, mostly in the starting area of Defiant. I have to say it looks very good and runs smoothly. I rolled a Reaver/Paladin/Void Knight to give that a try and so far I'm enjoying it. I'm not a huge fan of mmorpg's but there is something about this which has just clicked with me.

Already have a lvl 42 on blightweld so have stopped playing now until headstart, don't wanna burn out before live in 4 days.

Only problem I found with my shaman/justicar was that towards lvl 20, mana started to become an issue, particularly in Rifts or invasions ( but never solo ). You won't run dry just using mana for melee abilities, but throwing heals around quickly depletes the tank.

Mages aren't much better when it comes to mana - many combos can't sustain DPS for long. Necro/warlock/chloro/dominator builds don't suffer half as badly on this front.

From what I've seen in this beta, my brain tells me "roll a Rogue class". They have insane DPS, level fast and have reasonable survivability. And, traditionally I quite like playing archer/ranged classes too ( which the Rogue calling caters for ). My heart still is wanting to play a Mage though ..... and at launch I may just be willing to suffer and give it a stab.

42 !! thats dedication :p .. can I ask, is it much easier towards that level to generate cash ? and did you find (if you did any) crafting was worthwhile ?

cheers

Chloro/Necro/Dom will be my main on release with Sin/Sabo/Rift(or NB).. I've found the Mage build extremely usefull for PvP and PvE with tons of HoTs and instant cast Healing, plus with Necro you have endless mana !! I have a Pyro/archon/PvP soul for DPS which I have to say is so easy to kill peeps with.

Rolled a Warrior to test and well Void Knight+Riftblade just facerolls everything with 2 skills and I'm sure they will feel the nerf hammer soon :D

Yes generating cash is easier, the quests paid enough for me to buy my rare mount at 40.

My profs are Butcher/Outfitter/Runecrafter

In a nutshell I collect hide and cloth to make outfits to DE. Almost self sustaining for rare crafted clothes and runes.

Still undecided on what souls to choose for rogue, want to get the best melee DPS but theres quite a few combos you can do, plus Sab works well with anything too.
