That's one thing I DID miss when I switched from my Mondeo. Look at the specs for the fully specced out Jap GZ's (the one I had). They're a gnats breath away from the UK spec ones.
This is why I don't drive a Delta Integrale or an E39 M5.
I can afford the purchase price. I can afford to insure it. I can afford to put petrol in it.
What I can't afford to do is bail it out when a substantial component fails. Even if I do the work myself there are going to be some jobs that are either beyond my skill level, or will require parts that are outright too expensive or just too expensive to justify/sustain over a long period.
I know my limits.
What is it you think that costs a fortune to repair that any other car on the Market has that also fails.
Buying into an M5 or any other "fast car" doesn't automatically put you into some sort of elevated price bracket of repair should a component fail.
The only regular thing you're going to have to purchase that might be considered expensive are tyres, but as soon as you put it into context of a similar sized barge, that goes out the window as well.
Tyres, oil, brakes, clutch, exhaust - generally parts for performance variants trends to cost more than parts for the cooking versions, come on you have been in the trade for years, surely you have noticed this? Then there are the costs of things that cooking versions just don't have - VVT systems, intercoolers, turbochargers, 4x4 systems, specialist differentials etc etc.
I already have it![]()
