Specsavers Eye Test, any clue on price?

From what i remember it was free for me. You get a trial period of like 2 weeks? or something i seem to remember. I have had mine for 5 years so maybe things have changed.

Both Mrs Poole's Mum & Grandad were blind with glaucoma so her and my daughters get free eye tests at Specsavers.
They all went yesterday and my eldest was referred to a specialist at the Outpatients Department and of course this upsetr her thinking about her Grandma and Great Grandad.
She came home to her boyfriend and explained the situation and his first words were 'Brilliant, we're going to have a dog' :)
She hasn't stopped laughing.

True story bro.

I've told her that treatment for glaucoma is different now and they have caught it very early if that what the problem is.

If you work with VDU's, most workplaces will pay for eye tests.

I took my youngest to Tesco in Jan, they were pretty thorough and free as said. I needed 1.5x reading glasses :( but still not bad for 50 :)

It is £20.70

Its what is on my NHS Test part of my receipt from Sat just gone.

I work in a Specsavers store.

£20.70 is actually what we claim from the NHS when doing a test on behalf of them. It's different from a private test fee.

In my store it's £22.50 for an eye test but in another Specsavers a few miles away it's £15.

Your best bet is to phone the store in question and ask them how much they charge and it's not a set standard fee.

Also in regards to contact lenses, we do free trials, but again it's best to phone the store in question and ask them for all the relevent details about that as well.

If you work with a "VDU" (monitor) you are allowed to claim your eye test back - by law.

Specsavers charge the NHS rate for an eye test, so you will need to pay before claiming back. That is currently £20.70 for someone who has a job and has to pay for stuff (;)).

The offer a free trial of contant lenses.

And I can strongly recommend their "put em in at the start of the month and keep em in till next month" monthly disposables. £18.50 a month with solutions or £15 without :)

As I've said above, this is incorrect.

Although some Specsavers store will have the same price for an eye test it can vary a lot depending on certain factors and it's upto each stores director how much they charge.

£20.70 is what the store can claim back themselves for testing on behalf of the NHS.

You are right though in that anyone who works with VDU equipment is entitled to claim the test fee back from their employer.

Maybe you can help Indigo.

I bought a 85 price frame (elliott) on sat with refraction lenses and i payed £69 after benefits were took off. Should i have been offered the 2 for 1 as i did want 2 for 1 but the women dealing with me never said sir you can have another pair of glasses for free in the same price range or below. I know it wouldnt be free per say if i had 2 pairs with refractive lenses but a spare normal set would have been nice and the refractive lenses for every day use.

Im planing on askin about it when i pick my new glasses up on thursday. But im interested in where i stand if i can get them to do me a free pair because i have payed the minimum of 69 pounds which should entitle me to the 2 for 1 offer.
