Best hard drive for a laptop

I'm looking at replacing the hard drive in my laptop because I think it's about to die (laptop gets really slow at times, even with 8GB ram).

So...what's the best drive at the moment (for both SSD and Mechanical)?

What sort of capacity are you looking at first of all? The 120GB OCZ Vertex would be a good choice for a SSD but the 320GB Western Digital Black may provide better value for money. It's really down to how much capacity you need and how much $$ you want to spend

Not 100% sure to be honest. If I was to get an SSD, my budget would probably only stretch to a 64GB one. Is the WD Black much better than say a 500GB Samsung?

I would take the WD Black anyday in this case over the Samsung HDD.
