Got my Asrock P67 Extreme 6 up & running now.Any questions u want answered

My motherboard is now failing to boot...does not even get to the bios screen

Tryed pulling out all memory and swapping slots & tryed using single stick in each slot..
Tryed clearing the cmos by rear switch & jumper on board
Tryed removing battery
Tryed with only a single GPU card (both slots)
Tryed with all USB items/cables ,network cables, hardrives etc,etc removed

And still does not work :(
(Now using my old 775 board & CPU  )

Looks like it RMA time for my Extreme 6....

Yup.... It's a bit alarming isn't it, obviously it's exactly as I said it's corrupted the Cmos.
First make sure you have a fat formated flash drive with a new dos flash on it and keep trying with a single stick of memory....
Reboot holding F2, power off ... press power button, power on reboot with f2 again. if it hangs at "2E" (same as mine) try swapping the memory slot or no memory etc.
You will get there eventually ;)
and get into the bios and flash it.

Out of interest what were You doing before just prior to it failing ?

I was doing nothing apart from browsing the internet (mainly on here :D)...

The night before i was browsing the internet with no problems. Then i shut down my PC to go to bed...
Then the next day i come home from work pressed the power buttom on PC and it just kept on looping
(It would power up for a few seconds and then shut down and then power up again and then shut down......over & over & over )

Well I have concluded that it is the processor and not the board that is stopping me using the 46x multi, as I have copied the settings from the above screen shots and I am still getting the white underscore :(

I get the white underscore when PLL Overvoltage is disabled.

It needs 1.3v when using the 45x multi.

I have tried and 47 & 48 multi all the way up to 1.4v and it makes no difference.

I have tried with PLL Overvoltage disabled and enabled and I still get the white underscore.

Issue finally solved !!!!

Just tried the new Beta Bios 1.52

Set the Core Current limit to 300 and enabled PLL Overvoltage and bam booted straight in windows no questions asked :)

The only thing that I hadn't tried doing before was playing with the core current limit option.

Now I can finally see what this chip can do !!!

Very strange.....what the hell is 300 related to ? 100 watts @ 1.5 vcore would be 66Amps, more likely a time restriction, i'll take a look at my bios.

at least its working now ;)

post back with results....

My story for the night.....
right my vipers turned up and whatya know even at full 1800rpm, temps are up some 7 degrees:( to around 68 prime or ibt at 4.4 compared to corsairs fans at 1700rpm

that aside as i could not really get stable over 4.5 manually i reset bios to have a go at the optimsed clock like above post.

4.6 seemed fine so jumped straight 4.8 again ok but as everything is auto the volts were at 1.4/44 so left opti set at 4.8 and changed vcore to offset with minus 0.5 and still stable (read 30 mins prime 20 obt runs at high mem plus f1 for 20 mins) so maybe a bit more testing required to be sure.

At these settings cpuz is showing .94/8 idle and 1.32/6 load and multi is finally staying put at in this case 48 unlike when i was manually setting oc even at 44 and it would fluctuate up and down rarely hitting 44 more 43/42

slight bugbear is as the akasa vipers seem to under perform as mentioned on the h70 compared to stock giving me temp around 72/77 at 4800 but on the plus they drop to 900 on setting 1.

now i really must get to bed:p

oh almost forgot at this setting core temp show the vis as 1.5 under load!!!

Beta bios? What beta bios?

Beta bios? What beta bios?

dito checked web site for all boards and the only one higher than 1.5 is pro 1.7???

i have absolutley no idea what is stopping the multi dropping i tried manual 44
with everything auto and it flucuates between 39 and 44, changed to optimised everything auto and it stays put, unless its making changes to settings but showing them as auto????

but tbh im quite happy to go with 4800 with everything left auto except vcore set to offset -0.05 with cpuz showing 1.32/6 load

been priming all morning via teamviewer and so far max temp is 77 on core s 1 2 and 71 on 0 4

gonna stick occt on for a bit and see how that pans out

Only setting the short and long power higher will allow it to hold higher multipliers, I upped long duration from 95 to 110, what do you have ?

side note, I have had a couple of bluscreens in prime now :(

In the beta zone on the Asrock website.

A new Beta bios version 152 came out for the P67 Professional yesterday, as did version 142 for the Extreme 6.

Just a quick question guys ??

Other than the Vcore are you changing the voltage settings or leaving them on auto, if so what are you changing them to?

not sure as im at work and get get into bios remotely , ill check later and let you know

I see what it is , the preset overclocks obviously deal with the power limits.

Must admit I was wrong about preset overclocks...for this board and maybe sandy bridge in general, You still have full control of most settings ;)

Your 4.8ghz is very good, at the same settings mine is not prime stable ! although My temps are better
