Dragon Age 2 - * Official *

Roffle lolololol:

The 10 year lead designer of BioWare quit due to how DA2 turned out.

The bottom line is: to a greater or lesser extent, Brent Knowles left because the direction the game (DA2), and the company had changed to something he could not work for anymore because they were making the game into something he didnt envision as his type of game.

So... about the Dragon Age 2 demo.

I downloaded it last night. Can't wait to play it tonight but 'tis curry dinner night and cantonese study night with the missus, so I won't get a chance till much later. :(

No, it's your fault for assuming they're lame when you clearly haven't the slightest idea what they're about.

Yea, DA2 is so bad that Bioware's lead designer quit.

Funny that, dont you think?

I assume that other console RPGs are like DA2. If I dont like DA2, then I really wont like any other.

God Bhavv you actually might be the biggest simpleton I've ever seen post on here, and that's saying a lot.

You clearly have experienced a very narrow range of games and seem to think you know all, what a shame.

Well that was 5 months ago but very understandable. DA2 is nothing like DA:O, you don't have to look any further than the ridiculous makeover they gave to Flemeth and the very convoluted story in the beginning to figure that they had no credible ideas and were churning out anything they could to make a sequel for some quick cash. I suppose she studied lap dancers in a JRPG theme bar before being able to shapeshift into the DA2 version did she?

I've pretty much played every single RPG and Strategy on the PC and I know what I personally like about those genres very well thanks.

As I said, narrow :) Dismissing an entire platform worth of games based on one demo would be the very definition of ignorant fanboy.

As I said, its not my fault that the games arent released on the PC. Ive always played on the PC, Its been my platform of choice ever since I first played Civ II.

I have lots of console port games that I enjoyed, including Final Fantasy VIII which is an RPG :)

Im currently enjoying TDU2 very much as well which is a console port.

I simply dont like DA2 because it doesnt live up to Bioware's standard of PC RPG games. What is so difficult to understand about that?

The game is so bad that Bioware's lead designer quit as well, thats really saying something.

It is your fault that your dismissing them as worthless however, simply because they aren't on one platform.

So its my fault that I have my own personal opinion on the PC RPG genre based on the games that I enjoy? Thats really a problem for you?

I'm dismissing them because they arent anything like Baldur's Gate or Morrowind, not because they arent on the PC.

Also, since they arent on the PC, I really cant play them to make a judgment, but even if I did I doubt they would be anywhere near as good as the games I like are.

Changes
We were nearing the end of active work on design content for Dragon Age… there was still a lot more bug fixing/polishing/ and fill-content generation ahead but the core plot/writing and level design was finished. My work was rapidly shifting into that of reviewing what the team had put together.

Discussion on Dragon Age 2 began around this time and looking ahead I knew that I wasn’t going to be satisfied with what Dragon Age 2 would be. Party control/tactical combat are huge factors in my enjoyment of a role-playing game as is adopting the role of the hero (i.e., customizing my character). I was fairly certain Dragon Age would transition towards more of a Mass Effect experience, which while enjoyable is not the type of role-playing game I play. Could I be the lead designer on such a title? Certainly… though if I were going to work on a game adopting a set-in-stone protagonist I’d rather work on something lighter, like a shooter.

Through a series of circumstances it was decided that with my not wanting to participate on Dragon Age 2 it was time to transition in a new lead to finish the Dragon Age console versions and ramp up for Dragon Age 2. I moved out of an active lead role though I stayed on for several months performing quality assurance and helping with the transition. I completed the game several times during this period and racked up the second or third highest bug totals… so, still busy but doing something quite different.

Wow, I think that pretty conclusively sums up that DA2 is crap.

Are we going to see characters from DA:O pop up ala Flemeth? Would be nice to see sten with these new quanari models.

yes that was why i mentioned flemeth, ala means "In the style or manner of".

Googled to double check i wasn't miss using it :P
