Dragon Age 2 - * Official *

So its my fault that I have my own personal opinion on the PC RPG genre based on the games that I enjoy? Thats really a problem for you?.

I don't have a problem with that at all. What i have a problem with is you shoving this opinion down other peoples' throats. Enjoyed the DA2 demo? Console Derp. Like JRPGs? Console Derp. Like console games? Console Derp. Disagree with you in any way? Console Derp. You tar a huge portion of the people who post in this very subforum with that brush and act surprise when they shoot you down?

There's page after page in this thread of you digging out forum posts or blog entries that agree with your agenda. We get it, you don't like this, it's likely other people will share your opinion, we get that too. Would you find it informative or at all interesting for me to dig out all the blog entries, review quotes or forum posts that agree with my agenda? I assume not.

In short, move on, i'm doing so now.

To everyone else: apologies for constantly taking this thread off topic.

Anders makes an appearance too from what I've heard.

Never played any of the addons to Dragon Age. Is he a decent character or a non-event?

yea, I hate PC games getting so dumbed down like this for console derps.

A PC RPG from Bioware should never have been this bad. Oh wait, thats right, its not a PC RPG, its a console RPG for derps :)

So much for the PC to lose yet another great developer over to consoles, like PC gamers really needed this to happen.

Because everyone knows reviews can be taken completely at face value and have never been paid to write that ******** or just write was expected by the company. Because no reviewer has ever lost his job for writing what he actually thought of a game...

Go ahead. I doubt that anything that you find is going to be anywhere near as credible as what Bioware's lead designer thought about his own game that led him to quit.

Why do great PC games always have to get so severely dumbed down like this for console derps? Why? Go ahead, answer me please.

Well, you dont have to, I already know the answer. More sales and more money. Thank you console derps for ruining my PC games.

Ask yourself, why are games originally intended for PC being made multi-plat? ;)

I know that. To sell more copies and make more money. But in order for them to be successful they have to be completely dumbed down and simplified for the console derps :D.

Its completely different to when a popular PC strategy game gets dumbed down, when that happens the whole community rages (Command + Conquer series and Civ V anyone?). But when its PC RPGs that are become simplified and lamer, no one cares because they like the conversion of tactical RPGs into lame hack n slash games.

And since no one cares, it keeps on happening to every single RPG game.

Because PC gaming is less mainstream now and its much easier for the consumer to buy a console that doesn't require upgrading hardware to play games. Games don't necessarily have to be dumbed down, its more the focus on making them "hollywood". It's the notion that explosions and flashy things will sell rather than a brand. Look at how Call of Duty re-invented itself in order to become a more appealing franchise.

Please don't bait him further Skip, I'm somewhat on his side but every time he uses the term "console derp" he gets further toward the ignore list.

console derps :D.

LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE

Sorry, I never even knew what 'console derp' was until other people started using it, and now I find it funny :p

Yea, other people taught me to use that in this thread, how nice :)

Really, thats why PC gaming owns over 40% of the gaming market, and is the most popular gaming platform? Someone else posted a thread on the gaming market share here, look it up. Consoles dont even match up to how much market share the PC has for gaming.

Consolised dumbed down games like DA2 are the same thing to me as diluting your alcoholic beverages with water would be. I hate it and have had enough of it.

He's on mine now too. People have painstakingly pointed out that he has no knowledge of console rpgs whatsoever, and that they can be every bit as deep and complex as their PC counterparts, but he insists on rolling out the 'console derps' comment in place of any reasoned argument.

Thing is, strictly in relation to DA, I'm inclined to agree, but he's got a +5 tarring brush of generalisation, and doesn't seem to want to give it up :)

It's more the fact you've used it several million times in this thread and as someone who appreciates a good joke I find its not good to repeat one over and over.

I also take issue with "Console Derp" as I enjoy my ps3 (Demon's Souls included) and I've enjoyed console gaming since my first SNES.

The issues with Dragon Age 2 have nothing to do with console players, its developers looking at the success of games that appeal to certain audiences and then trying to imitate that within a genre that it shouldn't work with. It's the developers and shareholders that are the problem, not the public.

I think I pointed out that I know nothing about console RPGs either, but my point is that I dont want my PC RPGs turning into them like DA2 has. Why cant we still have proper PC RPGs instead of nothing but consolised ones?

Because every other post of yours contains that term. You're taking it further off topic now.

P.S. ... Console console, derp derp!

Doesn't the backstab move in DA:2 auto-port you behind the enemy you want to back stab? I seem to remember that being in the moves description... Saying that, every time I used it I'd be ported in front of the enemy, only to see them explode in a shower of red.

Every single time i used it i was "auto-ported" behind an enemy without fail...dno why your game was different. The point was that it does increased damage because of the position and rogue skills.

Although directed at someone else, that's one hell of a way to lose credibility in an argument.

THATS how stupid the argument/whining was getting.......

And despite your sarcasm, it's still a more engaging combat system than that of DA:2. As someone else said, TW holds your attention, even if it is via a cheese method of constant clicking.

Whats this? Where did i criticize the Witcher's combat do tell... (considering its one of my favourite games) i think you have misunderstood my comment.....

I may well have done. I took your post to be sarcastic in tone, apologies as it wasn't :).

No thats just how lame your replies were getting.

And let me get this straight. The game actually teleports your character behind the enemy so you don't have to think about positioning? Wow they really did design it for the lowest common denominator.

Lol, they'd buy it anyway then just bitch about it being too hard.
