Do any of you have any rules you try to abide by no matter what, i have two main ones.

Don't judge others
Don't set your expectations of others too high.

Obviously it's usually the insecure who judge others, plus i see it as a pointless exercise. And the other is fairly self explanatory.

Anyone else?

Treat others as I'd like to be treated.
Never assume anything.
Always give people a second chance.
Be open minded and never say no to trying new things. (hence why I've managed to do so many things in my life as I always say why not?) that way I don't regret not having tried it and feel I can comment or have an opinion on things. :)

Never argue with an idiot, they'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I'd go along with not expecting too much of people as it's often a surefire route to disappointment but not judging people at all? C'est impossible.

I'd be pretty sure that everyone judges others, as much as it may not be fair or rational to do so I judge people the instant I meet them and sometimes well before. What I do think is important though is as Freefaller says allowing a second chance (as much for your own sake as theirs) - some very good friends of mine have been people who on meeting I didn't like all that much and thought they didn't like me either.

A little quote I like to remember from time to time is by John Andrew Holmes ""It is well to remember that the entire universe, with one trifling exception, is composed of others.".

Ok what i mean is don't go about your whole life judging others, there are far better things to be doing ;)

Plus i very rarely judge, mostly as it's not in my nature anyway being an intj

Anyway i meant more in a negative light, i pretty much agree with freefaller's rules as well.

Never tell a Doris she's fat till after you've Smashed it.

Keep your mouth shut & Listen, You cannot learn anything whilst you are talking.

Never try to reason with a Woman just avoid the 2 weeks a month they are mental.

Smile in adversity.
Do unto others as you would do to yourself.
The grass is not always greener on the other side.

Never look a gift horse in the mouth
Dont worry be happy
Never make assumptions as you will invariably look like an arse.

Never assume malice for what stupidity can explain :)

I'd much rather believe people/friends particularly are being idiots rather than mean :p
