The future direction of BMW

Mine has folding mirrors and it was listed as an option on the spec when I bought it, if that helps.

Folding mirrors are real problem for me...

I grin like a child everytime I push the button (everytime I get in and out of the car), and I'm not sure I could own another car without them now... :(

I've seen a few Z4Ms and Boxster S' that looked ideal, bar the lack of folding mirrors, and it really put me off...

Can the key fob be programmed on the newer stuff to fold/unfold the mirrors when the car is locked/unlocked? Mine can't do that... :(

Some of the Americans can code it to that, so its possible in theory.

It's not a feature I've ever missed having but as I'm spending the most I've ever spent on a car and I intend to keep it 5 years I want it loaded with absolutely every pointless and stupid gadget they can possibly fit :p

Can you please buy an automatic? ;)

Worst BMW wheel ever made in the history of the universe ever.

PLEASE STOP DEMONSTRATING YOUR LACK OF TASTE :eek:

:D

Lies. http://www.bimmernut.com/forum/attachments/5-series-bmw/4575d1174249721-16-inch-wheels-dsc00703.jpg

Tell me they don't haunt you.

CSLs aside, what better wheel for an E46 Sport Coupe? Pretend the reps fitted to dross don't exist...

MV1's aged hard!

Not too bad. For context, the 18's are £552 a set from Camskill.

Complete waste of £552 if they don't fit wheels that don't suck though...

Hurrah for pointless gadgets! I'm not sure how much use Connected Drive would be in practice, but I do want it badly... Also, Inflatable side bolsters and Adaptive Xenons win.

No fear. If I hated throttle response I'd get the diesel like everybody else... That bloody DCT box spoilt that Z4... *grumble*

The 3 series is a tricky one for me... In the right spec, it ticks almost all of the right boxes, except it has two too many seats, and one too many roofs... :(

You realise there is a 3 Cab, yea?

And all the e46 wheels sucked as well :(

Didn't like the E46 cab I drove, damn thing shook... The wind deflector covered rear seats I don't want. At least the coupe offers the fold flat rear seats for practicality, in the cab the space would just sit there being useless and heavy...

Perfect car for hot MILFs, but not my thing personally...

Have we seen power graphs for standard and mapped 335s? Obviously the map would unlock extra peak power, but I wonder if it eases the issue of the power tailing off as well?

For the benefit of the terminally lazy, what's the fuel economy like? In my head I lump all the 2.0T's together as being ~30-35mpg combined?

For the lighter 2 wheel drive Audi, combined 42
For the heavier 4 wheel drive Golf, combined 33

(all claimed figures)

I've got real experience of the unit in the older 200ps unit in the Mark5 Golf, 34mpg-ish (VW claim 35mpg on the combined cycle)

So rubbish then, only 4mpg better than the 330i with a proper engine.

I'm starting to think that the 330i economy is an elaborate ploy to con the EU regs...

Build car, claim 500 nags, 80mpgz, and 3 CO2s. Use the stats to drag down the average CO2 emissions accross the range, but don't actually sell it to anyone thus eliminating complaints that it doesn't perform as quoted...

The 330i, rarer than unicorns!

Very sneeky... :cool:

tangential, but i prefer the clubsport rims on an E46. although i suppose i would say that now....

The 330i Clubsport was another dilemma...

Being diplomatic, the spoiler and wheels were a bit marmite, but <3 Estoril Blue... :drool:

Yep, but I suspect its easier (read lazy) to massage the CO2 output from something with a turbo. So, you have a hierarchy of badness:

1. EU rules (please discuss elsewhere)
2. Manufacturers implementation (read profitability)
3. Customer ambivalence caused by EU rules
3a. Car tax rules, see point 1

All means your:

316 = 1.4T
318 = 1.4T
320 = 1.4T
325 = 2.0T
M3 = I6T

Well no, there are loads of 325i and they have the same figures.
