Tell me about...Bracknell

It's full of chavs but not rough chavs like Croydon.

I used to live in Maidenhead and go there for the cinema and restaurants. There's a dry ski slope near there.

All in all it's fine.

I used to live there, it's fine but not amazing. You'll find yourself going to Reading for shopping and entertainment.

Bracknell city centre is an ugly concrete london expansion town, but the surrounding areas aren't too bad. Night life is generally in Reading, but got an ok cinema/bowling complex with a couple of eating places.

If you like comedy and theatre be sure to check out south hill park. Seen most of the top comedians there (normally doing practice shows) and some good productions. The comedy cellar bar is great for seeing emerging talent, Eddie Izzard got his start there. Off to see Alan Carr next week.

It's not too bad, bit lkike every other generic UK town tbh. Me and the other half are looking to move to Bracknell (or surrounding areas) soon as well. Both work in Wokingham but Bracknell is far cheaper.

Pretty dull place tbh. I've had to stay there several times, usually ended up going to Reading or Wokingham for nights out.

Used to go there a lot to watch the Ice Hockey (away games) but that's about it!

It's a dump. It's currently being 'regenerated', so in a few years, it might be a more colourful dump.

Maybe I was just being lucky, but there seemed to be quite a lot of pretty lasses around the area. So maybe it does have something going for it.

It is pretty dire trust me on this. Reading is a far more attractive area compared to Bracknell, and Reading is by no means a great place to live.

Town centre is awful. Truly awful. Some nice places nearby, though: Fleet is quite posh, Reading has loads of shops, Basingstoke has a bigshopping centre, lots of cinemas and stuff too.

Looks like any generic UK wasteland of a town. I can't say whether it's a dump or not as I've never lived there, but I had a colleague who was from the area and he says it's a toilet.

It's a dump - post war 60s concrete jungle with a 1 way system.

Live somewhere nearby like Twyford, Wokingham, Binfield, Windsor, Maidenhead etc.

It's deffo one of the worse towns in Berkshire, even if it's not a total total hole.

Yea, but the regeneration has been on hold for about 10 years now :/

They were clearly lost

n short, live elsewhere, it's great as a position, close to Reading/London, but aside from the forest, there's very little there that's nice to look at.
highpoints, ski/ice skating centre, cinema/bowling, that's basically it, the town has a few big name shops, but most places in town are shut down/gone under

Don't forget that big KFC just outside of the town centre. The locals all go there in their droves for their 'sunday roast'.

Thank you all! Seems to be a bix mixed...I don't mind somewhere being run down, as long as it's more of a 'Hatfield' than a 'Dunstable'.
I''m afraid I don't own a bike...I do own a car though, so the KFC shouldn't be an issue :P

I take it the move is work related?

Are you actually going to be working in Bracknell?
