Drink driving.

I will drive after a pint or a couple of small bottles, but only on the rare occasion. I often drive home the morning after a big night out but only once I've had a sleep, some coffee and something to eat. Possibly still over the limit, but its hard to tell when you are hungover. I'm 21.

Never, ever driven drunk. I'm 26.

If I know I'm driving, I will not touch alcohol. I know I 'could' get away with a small amount, and have nothing against those who have something, but I prefer not to.

Just goes to show then dosent it, the change in attitude towards drink driving has worked.

As suspected i thought there would be less drink drivers here than PH because this has the younger audience, thats one government campaign that has actually worked.

It's a social taboo to everyone I've talked to, although I haven't had anything like the abuse I expected. I suppose in my case It wasn't a case of "oh I'll be fine, only had 10 pints of Strongbow, I feel like I could conquer the world", I genuinely had big issues at the time. I had no intention of driving home, at all. After all that drink it I was no longer my usual self I suppose and people understand it was very much out of character.

I had the embarrassment of my own neighbours restraining me on my own street (I was assaulted by some chavs coming out of a house party, not related to where I was drinking, so I kicked off), my name and address in the local paper which is pretty damaging considering I'm probably the only Daniel Duperouzel on the planet. It doesn't bother me, I did something stupid, **** faced or not, there is no excuse. I've been open about it since day one as I feel I should get put in my place but it's not really been like that.

I just wish I hadn't learnt all I did in that course after the damage was done really. It's changed my whole outlook on drinking to a point I might just give up completely because if if you're not feeling drunk you're still at huge risk of losing what is most previous to you, your driving licence.

Good on you for taking it on the chin, its one of those things isnt it, nothing to be ashamed of, you did, got a ban then moved on, thats it job done.

2 pints once in the afternoon, was a hot sunny day and had 2 at a pub.

Felt fine, was only Fosters.

Seen mates get banned for 18 months+ for DD, that was them going into town then driving home after a night out, I just get a taxi/night bus or walk if no money

I'll have a pint or two (of weaker beer) with a large meal some Sundays in a country pub then drive home. Typically I'll have finished drinking 2- 3 hours before I drive and will have had three courses. I certainly wouldn't drive if I was still feeling the effects..

Mark is right, I had this very conversation with the older members on my team not too long ago.

There is now, a massive social taboo (and rightfully so) concerning drink driving. 20-30 years ago this wasn't around and although illegal to drink drive, it wasn't frowned upon so much. I know people who have drunk a lot 20-30 years ago and just driven home, with no so much of an eye brow being raised.

You're right Mark, this government campaign has worked, I can't think of many others which have had this effect for sure.

It's quite shocking how much this still goes on if you ask me, see it frequently out in rural areas.
The other week coming back from Wales, got stuck for hours because of some sort of major incident just a couple of hundred metres up the road. Turned out it was a drunk driver that had gone head on with an oncoming car around the bend and hospitalized a whole family. More shocking still was that truck driver on motorway cops that was driving a wagon steaming drunk 3 times over the limit with an open can of high strength tramp lager open
It's disgraceful behaviour and no, I've never done it.

I never drink if I'm driving, I have developed a habit of driving the following day after a session though which if I was caught, would be bad news.

Almost 24 and have only ever had 1 pint if driving, and its been a while since I last did that too.
Never had a drink if I am riding a motorbike.
