As thread title. I want to know which drives are covered with a full manufacturer warranty that is not dealt with by the seller. I will be avoiding Samsung from now on as I am no longer sure if I will get a proper drive or something imported with no true end-user warranty. I like samsung a lot but having to rma back to the seller results in weeks of waiting and waiting and waiting. Is this just one of those things that happens or is this the future for all hard drives no matter what brand?

I RMA'd a Samsung F1 drive last year, it was dealt with by return post. I dealt with the Samsung agents in the UK direct. I also RMA'd a Seagate LP drive direct to them and received a refurbished drive after about 10 days, which was a bit of a disappointment.

I had to RMA an Intel G2 SSD to OcUk and it took ages. Fortunately I was able to afford a replacement (a Vertex 2) while I sent the Intel back. After 3 months I sent a web note and OcUK very obligingly sent out a brand new drive from stock. I was a bit annoyed that I had to remind them though.

I must praise WD for their "advance RMA" procedure, it works great and you get your replacement drive in 2-3 days. I believe most of their drives have 3-5 year warranties.

RMA'd a WD 2TB last week. Due for delivery tomorrow.

Samsung were about a week turnaround. As long as its not a grey import.

Well m8 its a grey import and from a place that I never ever thought would do such a thing!

EDIT: whats worse is I know they will send a refurbished grey import back... I probably couldnt even sell it on if I didnt want it.

That's useful to know - I'm still waiting after a month, I too have bought a Vertex 2 in the meantime!
