LG wins injunction against Sony PS3

"Sony wins court case against hacker 'Geohot'"

Im just going off all the articles i have read.

If you had actually read any articles on it you would have realised that Sony haven't actually won. You just regurgitated a sensationalist headline.

Again read the title of nearly all the article, maybe the headlins should be "sony didnt infact win the case"

You could have just calmy stated that it was temporary instead of carrying on. I admitted my mistake in my second post stating yes it is only temporary.

I was just saying that you should read the article instead of just the headlines, then you would never have made the mistake, that's all :)

Pretty sure it is true, sure I read an article on here that said the majority of PS3 use is for movies.

I think it's more of a case of 'got this console for Christmas, not bothered about playing games but it has a br so it's a win win situation anyway, now we can use that instead of the DVD player'. It's somewhat true what you say though, I've seen that survey too as someone linked it to me on these forums. But the majority was streaming and not br use.

As a side note, in Norway people only really buy a PS3/Xbox if they are interested in gaming properly. While here I see people getting them for Christmas/birthdays for a bit of Guitar Hero and then never use them again. I think it's a bit odd :p Adds up to the numbers of people who use the PS3 for other than gaming anyway.

How recent is the article? A few years ago when BD players were expensive and the PS3 was regarded as one of the best, I'd easily believe it, but certainly not these days. The people buying PS3s want it for games, not for Blu-ray.

True, but people who have a PS3 is highly unlikely buy another BR player, espically if you consider that it can do 3D as well. Must tick off other manufactures such as LG! ;)

The fact is that althrough the PS3 is not top teir player anymore, it's still right up there with the best.

so any updates on this
i dont see it happening but it would be funny if sony couldnt sell any till they pay LG lol

This only applies in Holland, so all Sony need to do is import from a different country to carry on importing consoles. In this case the EU court has impounded before investigation so nothing has happened the 10 day thing runs out middle of this week and then we will know a bit more.

Mayby Sony will take the oportunity to release a cheap PS3 with a bigger Hard Disk and no expensive BD Drive. They could get the unit cost down and switch to full download distribution at the same time.

Of course it would exclude the 80% of people that don't live a fibre area unless they fitout all the Computer game shops with some sort of kiosk which puts the game on a flash drive for you to take home and copy to your system (some sort of DRM needed).

I know its not going to happen, just a fleeting thought.

If they did that I would actually mod my console just to avoid having to pay the overpriced amounts games would cost on PSN.

Isn't Mass Effect 2 still at £47 or something on PSN?
