New car

As for direct injection petrols, VW's (T)FSI units seem fine from what I've seen? I believe the PSA unit found in Minis, 207GTIs and DS3s is also direct injection? and countless others you don't really hear any bad things about.

The VAG direct injection petrols are pretty reliable even when remapped however they are in the process of replacing the original coilpacks on every single one of them. At least they are doing it for free regardless of the age of the car.

ive read about an issue with the fuel pump on the tfsi lumps, but thats about it

So? I spent more on my last two cars and also pay for my insurance monthly. The cost of credit is insignificant compared to having to drop over £1k (until now) on insuring two cars. I'm pretty sure I could make more than the cost of credit with that £1k by buying some Silver anyway (which is where all my spare money is going at the moment :o ), or dropping it on shares if that is your thing.

oh please god no, you sound almost as stupid as the guy in GD who harped on about his chinese gold trading and natwest private bank cards.

given how much money you have you can make six lots of **** all from silver, gold, platinum whatever. I'm sure if you were very shrewd and invested a grand then maybe after twenty years you might realise a £600-700 profit, but utter ****** can you make a grand in the time it takes for a car loan to mature.

Oh classic, now you want us to think you are some sort of precious metals investor. When will it ever stop, mind you not many investors would advocate borrowing at 20% because 'hey i can make it back on silver' :D

Go and Google (or Youtube) for Silver Bullion before you knock it. In fact, I'll do it for you - http://www.silver-bullion.info/Silver_bullion_prices

I'm surprised that someone such as your self is ignorant to such a huge investment potential.

I could not get a 0% Credit card last year, and my own credit card is something like 22% :/

but utter ****** can you make a grand in the time it takes for a car loan to mature.

Where have I said I can make a grand? I said I could probably make the interest....

I am not ignorant to its potential at all, I just find the idea that you Are investing in silver impossible to believe.

How can you not get a 0% card, is your credit rating that bad?

Comedy gold! i mean silver

....because...

Basically what Will said. The last service was £800 odd after getting new brake pads on the back, a rear ball joint replaced, oil change and aircon re-gas.

Getting rid of the horrible runflats was another £800 and it cost £250 to get an ipod connection installed because the onboard computer had to have an upgrade.

So in the last year it's had nearly £2k thrown at it (although admittedly the tyres and ipod connection weren't essential).

The build quality, especially the interior, isn't what I would expect from a £40k odd car. It's 4.5 years old (65k miles) and already the matts need replacing, the soft-touch trim stuff is peeling off all over the place, the gear top comes off in your hand if you try and do an aggressive change and some of the faux-carbon-aluminium trim is lifting off. Oh yeah, and the M-Sport door strips are falling to pieces.

On top of that, It's just a bit of an attention seeking whore. I can't get into the thing without the iDrive kicking off about something, even if it's just to tell me that it's cold outside. The BMW 'Bing!' fills me with dread every time it goes off.

To drive it's lovely, when you're actually in the thing you forget about all of the above, but to own and run it's just a bit stressful.

Is that the cam lobe wearing ? just change it every 50-60k it is only £20, mine looked like new at 43k but changed it anyway the dealer charged £15 to change it. The new engines are chain driven with the fuel pump running off the chain to over come that issue.

No idea. I have no issues obtaining credit elsewhere. It isn't like I applied with every credit card though, I stopped after I was declined for fear of doing more damage.

Mike, here is my free tip for the day, get rid of the silver, because when the drop comes you wont see it coming.

Will, I suggest you go back and read the thread, as I haven't got a clue what you're talking about.

I was talking about the interest on a £1000 insurance policy?

I cant believe it, this thread started well, now its another train crash.

Let's all invest in silver and buy our insurance monthly to counter the high apr. This is obviously better than just not paying daft Apr.

And I would listen to Mark on this.

That isn't what I'm saying at all, now is it? Just that everyone's circumstances are different.

My apologies I did get the wrong end of the stick, but your silver investing claim is still stupid though
