Supplements the debate/discussion thread

Dextrose will start entering the bloodstream in about 15 mins, vitargo (aka barley starch) might enter about as fast (I never tested or looked it up) but seems a lot of money for something I doubt enters any faster. How fast it moves from the blood into cells depends on insulin response. In a healthy adult that should be fairly fast, and after in the blood it should be moved into cells in about 2 hours max.

The only claims I can find for WMS or vitargo being faster are sites selling it or people reposting that info.

Edit: Just to be clear if it works for you then great, but what I'm reading suggests it is no better than simple dextrose and in fact might not even be as good.

I remember reading that waxy maise starch is quite heavy so sinks through the stomach & is digested quicker dragging everything else along with it. May have been total tosh as I haven't really looked in to it!

As far as I can remember that whole point of WMS was rapid gastric emptying and very rapid absorbtion. I can't remember about the gastric emptying, but I think when tested the absorbtion was nothing to write home about.

Was doing light weights I'm now planning on upping them and growing hence the order :)

Great thanks ;)

supplements are not magic, most of them are a powdered/capsule versions of food or a specific nutrient, which are far better absorbed and used by the body if you eat the actual food.

just because you switch from light weights to heavy weights doesn't mean you now need supplements, you only need them if you want to cover your bases, or to "supplement" your diet, to aid in getting rid of any deficiencies your diet may have.

i use a lot of different supplements, and i eat a lot of food, but i know food > supplements.

recently i have noticed that Jack3d is killing my appetite, whenever i take it, after my workout i dont feel hungry, and i can barely manage to eat half a sandwich/wrap with a shake, i weigh roughly 100kg, so thats not even a starter for me.

if anybody is cutting, i could probably recommend it as an appetite suppressant as well as a pre workout energy drink, but not to be taken too late in the day or you wont be able to sleep.

I love that people still act like protein shakes are steroids, it's ridiculous. I suggested to someone complaining that they were spending loads of money on food that they should try having some shakes and they looked horrified and said "No, if I'm going to do anything it's going to be natural". :) utter pillock :)

Jack3d has never had that effect on me. I get on quite well with it, it last for the session then I don't have any problems eating or sleeping after. A friend said that all it did was give him an epic headache but I guess he didn't consume enough fluid with it

Even without an appetite I will eat my meals on time, even if it's a struggle. I've been finding dinner quite hard recently because I'm now drinking xtend during my training. Still trying to find the right balance.

anyone tried jack3d upgrade yet - USPlabs Yok3d ?

Some of the reviews and results from people already using it in the gym are insane, looks like its far superior product to Jack3d - just put in an order for mine :)

also USPlabs have just brought out Modern BCAA that is getting a lot of rave in the States!

lemme know how you guys get on, due to a ****-up by the supplier i now have about 4 years supply of pre-workouts.

5 and a half tubs of jack3d and 6 tubs of asgt.

dont know what im going to do, i might sell it on for a profit lol.

Yeah the yok3d does sound exciting from the crack-head marketing puppy talk information on the web, but if it does live up to the hype in a few months I might get a bit.

i dont think yoked is any good,

http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/usp/yoked.html

theres only 54 members taking it on bodybuilding.com and half of them will be reps, who say that they take everything the company they rep for makes.

compared with jacked

http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/usp/jacked.html

11,000 members nearly

up to you guys to test it out, but i dont think it will be worth the ££££

You can't really judge it on that since from what I can gather its not even been fully released yet.

theres no threads on their forums about it either, stuff that is supposed to be good doesnt stay under the radar over their. reps post stuff all the time about upcoming products, yet no-one has mentioned this yoked.

in other news apparently the 2 main guys behind gaspari have left and will be starting their own company, 1 of the guys who left was the guy in charge of what supps to make, and what to put in them. basically the whole brains/concept of the business.

also gaspari is under investigation by FDA, doesnt look too well for them, i only use their myofusion, but if the main guy makes the same thing in his new company for cheaper i will jump ship.

anybody using gaspari products, i would change until this fda thing is sorted out, apparently its superpump and plasmajet which is being scrutinized, but may be others as well.
